.22LR/.22Mag "fun guns"

Aimpoint T1/T2 mounts

LobsterClaw207 ·
So what is the new hotness in Aimpoint T1/T2 "Micro" mounts for carbines? I've always just kinda done the Larue thing, and been done with it. They work just fine, but I haven't bought one in six years. I'm wondering if there are new or different options out there. What's the scoop? Should I not be looking for something different? I've seen a few INTERNET sources talking about things like engagement surfaces and whatnot... beyond my expertise to know if it matters or what.

AAR TEES Mechanical and Ballistic Breacher Instructor Course 2-6 June 2014

AAR TEES Mechanical and Ballistic Breacher Instructor Course June 02 – 06 2014 I attended the TEES (Tactical Energetic Entry Systems) Mechanical and Ballistic Breacher Instructor course from June 2 through June 6th, in Byhalia, Mississippi. The course was described, as the title suggests, as an instructor level course for skills like shotgun breaching, as well as breaching using hand tools like Halligans, sledge hammers, and rams. The first three days were skill development with these tools,...

Blown up S&W Shield

This is a newer Shield in .40 S&W. Female was shooting it and apparently didn't notice the reduced recoil and sound of what was more likely than not a squib round.... pulled the trigger again and it blew up on her. Face and hand injuries for her. Coworker took these three photos, unfortunately not more. He said the pistol owner is a "gun guy" and is definitely contacting S&W so they can examine it. Ammo was some "good" Winchester hollowpoints. I'll try to find out...

Low-pro gas block installs

LobsterClaw207 ·
Quick question: When installing a low profile gas block on a typical AR-15, how necessary are the "dimples" in the bottom of the barrel?  I've seen them on my BCM barrel, but after working with a couple Aero Precision barrels and a Larue one, none of the others had the dimples for the gas block set screws to go into. Should I be drilling these somehow on those barrels that don't have them? What kind of jig or whatever should be used to ensure the gas block is straight up and down, and...

Appreciate the leads, men. Hopefully with that new factory BCM will be able to keep their shit in stock a little longer, alas I guess when you actually make good shit people want to buy it As far as machining my own... ha. Good thought, but I've got basically zero machining skills and/or tools. They're not. The springs probably are...probably. The hammer and trigger aren't. Once you see one in person, you'll really be struck by how craptastic they are. To me it felt like a Carbon 15 with about half the quality.
