Dry Fire Damage?

I have a Savage Axis XP in .308 and have not heard if large amounts of dry fire will cause any damage and should I be using snap caps?

I have not been to Savage armorer school, but the Remington didn't want of any issues from dry fire, and we dry fire them a lot.  No problems that I've seen over the last 15 years.

Thanks.

I picked up some fairly realistic snap caps anyway. Real brass, with 168 gr SMK (tips painted to distinguish from live rounds and stored totally away from all live rounds) and silicone/RTV in the primer pocket.
