Huge ultimate RAID pack thread

That's a Monkey Admin pouch. Smaller one is a Spec-Ops PDA pouch, which is great for my Droid-X.

A friendly reminder:

1- This is a RAID pack thread. Look through the previous 39 pages. Not much of anything else. The Third Line or maybe the studboard are more appropriate.

2- First post should be in the Intro area, as per the instructions you received in your email. I would do this very, very soon.

I like this pack so far, it is replacing an Eagle A III Molle pack. Seems to have plenty of room for everything I could need, and does it comfortably

Which Kifaru pack is that? I don't see anything resembling a RAID on their website but it isn't the easiest thing to navigate...
Doh! I just realized that the new RAIDs have PALS on the inside instead of the mesh pouches. Damn. I have an original RAID in coyote that I'm looking to replace with a black one. But I like the mesh pouches and would prefer to not have to buy aftermarket ones.
Has anyone ordered anything directly from Eagle lately? I just replaced my RAID that I sold years ago with a black Eagle RAID from Ebay.

I called last week to see about ordering an AIII waist belt and frame sheet. I ordered directly from them about 2006 and the lady I talked to was polite and helpful and even gave me a great price on the items.

I called last week and the woman who answered acted like I was bothering her. When I told her what i was looking for she acted like she didn't know what I was talking about and then she told me that they didn't take phone orders and that I would have to order from the website or through email.

I told her that the item wasn't listed seperately on the website and she told me that if the item wasn't listed I would have to order 25 pieces of the same item. I thanked her for her help and sent an email asking about the items through the website. Still haven't heard anything back.

Anyone else had anything similar or did I just catch someone on a bad day?

I'm going to order the framesheet through ATS but I haven't found anyone selling waistbelts.

I'm leery of buying a RAID pack off eBay. Anything good in the tactical world seems to spawn Chinese knockoffs and I bet RAID packs are no different.

That having been said, I'm in the market for a Black RAID pack (Gen I or II) and would entertain the idea of trading my spotless clean Coyote Gen I RAID for it. If anyone knows of one for sale/trade, lemme know.
AggiePhil-

Just a quick question, and if I missed the answer somewhere,i do apologize...

the 2 Kifaru mesh pouches you have in your pack, can you please tell me what type/model number they are, and, if they will fit into a Cobro?
Also, if that particular model wont fit into a Cobra, do you,or anyone, happen to know wht model,of a similar type mesh pouch would work the same?

I use these in my BFG micro pack (which is,BTW, my favorite pack ever, and out of all of them,1 out of 2 or maybe 3 I will NEVER get rid of) and it seems like it would work well in my Cobra as well.

Thank You AggiePhil, and all other fella's who can help fit the proper size mesh bag, like those Kifaru kind,to a Cobra pack.
just got my RAID II in MC and what a nice piece of gear. Quick question for the frame sheet: I tried using the Eagle one but it's too wide at the top. Should I get the ATS one instead ?

---------------------------------- "Pain is weakness leaving the body"

I think it's bigger. I've compared it to my Camelbak HAWG which was 1200, and it's much bigger than that for capacity. I've used my RAID as a 3-day pack to fly out someplace for work and didn't have any capacity issues.

I bought this RAID from ATS in 2005. Here is a pick of my set up back then for PMC work.

My set up now for SWAT perimeter work.

Front of pack has a HSGI Admin Pouch Modular mounted with all my maps, pens, mini lights etc. On the HSGI pouch I have one Paraclete M4 pouch with a loaded PMAG and a Pelican Mitylite with red lense in a Gerber strap cutter case.

On the right side of the RAID I have Gerber TacII fixed blade knife, a Eagle smoke pouch containing a Def Tech HC Max Smoke. In the side long pouch I have a pair of small bolt cutters.

Left side of RAID has a DBT 100rd pouch containing my Nikon binos. In the side long pouch I have four 16.9 oz bottles of water.

On the bottom of the back I have a DBT molle pouch that holds my USGI trimmed camo net, and any extras like camo kit and light coat.

Inside the RAID I have a med kit, misc pouch of batteries in a Pelican case, Throat mic and another HC smoke. In the top mesh pouch I keep my NODs and it the botton lid pouch I keep a couple FB's, some 550 and a pair of shears.

Finally Joined the club, drank the RAID kool-aid.
Bought her a few weeks ago off of 21M, went to the woods thursday night for an "ATF" weekend in the Brazeau backcountry.

Raid performed beautifully, bar none the best piece of kit Ive bough of late.

Note the side sleeve holds my Cooey 840 crack barrel 12 Ga quite well.

Dixon,

Not gonna lie, I missed it as soon as I taped the box shut, but you've already given it more use that I have in the last year.

Well played, sir

"The thing everyone forgets about the Chinese is that they work on a 50-100 year master plan. Our best planning here goes out maybe a year or two."

I carried this one with my on my last deployment, but I've since moved on to more leisurely pursuits. This is the approach to Grays Peak in Summit, CO- another 1k or so in elevation and the wind was probably 30-40mph and felt like it was getting worse. Between that and only having a week at altitude so far, I ended up bailing on the summit at the snow line (maybe 13k?) but it was still a hell of a good hike. I never had any use for the sternum strap when it was my go to small pack while in the military, but I may be putting it back on for stuff like this. Great pack!
So after purchasing a RAID used of 21M, one of my Cpls realized that the small pack system the CF issues was absolute junk he fired up the ol' interwebs order machine and placed his order.

The Look of joy on a troopies face when the magic flat rate box showed up this morning right after PT is hilarious.

He wanted me to send a big thanks to the ATS crew for getting this out quickly, he is thinking of leaving his woman for this bag I believe. So big thanks to ATS for taking care of the Canadian brothers!

this afternoon he was delving through this thread, and shortly after was firing up the ATS and Supply Captain websites, CC in hand...

Josh,
Drink the kool-aid, this bag has been worth every penny I paid 21M for it. Be it a weekend out in the woods hunting partridge in the muskeg, to 10 day recce patrols as my callsign go bag it does its job Incredibly well. but Im not saying anything that hasnt been said before here about the RAID. Get one and don't look back.

As for my location... fire up the MGRS reference in my location and you'll see what a small world we exist in...

Im not trying to hi jack the thread or detour it. But where can I find a pack just like the Raid, but smaller?? Like a 12hr, maybe a 24hr pack. Im trying to build a Active shooter bag. I like how the Raid is modular and you can add pouches to the outside and inside as you want to. I like the Raid, but its too big for my purpose.

Im currently trying out a Rush 12 pack, but I rather have something like the Raid.

If this is out of the topic, please erase the post.

Just off the top of my head would be one of the Blue Force Gear packs(now discontinued). They had MOLLE on the outside and the velcro for dappers or other velcro backed pouches on the inside.

Has anyone else had problems with the long side pocket stitching blowing out?

In my Gen 1 RAID, it separated along the bottom of the pouch from use as a Nalgene bottle holder.

My Gen 2-ish RAID/LAK has a pocket starting to separate along the side, where the pocket attaches to the pack itself; near the zipper.
