KKM vs Apex vs? M&P Barrels

About to comp an m&p and there is no place locally to get hands on with any of these barrels.   Im leaning towards an Apex or a KKM, but don't know which will allow the comp to sit tighter with the front of my slide.  I am trying to cram the whole thing in a G34 holster, and I believe I can make it work as long as I get a decent fit between the front of the slide and the rear of the comp.  Can anybody advise?

Have had a positive experience with a KKM barrel, not so much with a SDtorm Lake bbl for the same gun.

Based on my experience, interactions with Randy Lee of ApexTactical re the M&P, I'd be very comfortable recommending the Apex bbls. I'm planning on re-barreling, comping a 2.0 Compact with one of their bbls in the near future.

I have a KKM in a Glock, and it's a great barrel. I have an Apex in one of my M&P's and it's also a great barrel... Really just depends on who's running a sale when I'm in the market for a new barrel. Both are legit options. KKM's consistently come in as the best via ransom rest tests that I've seen. But I think my Apex does just as well. I just haven't seen any ransom rest tests with the Apex.

Look at BarSto also.

Currently my M&P 1.0 9mm is at a very well known BullsEye gun builder. He initially wanted to put in a KKM drop in barrel, and noted he was always pleased with them. I however, really wanted too see what the gun can do with a hand fitted barrel done by a real pro. I sent it to him, and told him to use the Apex or BarSto gunsmith fit, which ever he preferred. He noted that he thought the Apex was to fast of a twist.

One friend has a Apex fitted by ATEI, and is very happy with it.

Another has a 5" Pro and bought the BarSto drop in for it.  It didn't fit, but we took it to another well known BE builder close by, who took a few swipes off the hood while we waited and got a press fit...gun shoots well.

I've got a BarSto drop in, in my G22..fit very tight..thought the gun wouldn't run..shoots great.

If I was going drop in, I'd give the BarSto a hard look

Talked to the folks at TBRC who make the comp and they believe the Apex will provide a better fit in terms of the gap between the comp and the slide.    Now looking for a black friday Apex sale.

While not a BF sale but just got an Apex email that they have free shipping thru 27 Nov.

I'd be interested in hearing how that turns out.

When talking to TBRC, they recommended the Apex for a closer fit.  I have measured and I think I can fit a gen 1 4.25 M&P with a TBRC micro into a G34 6354DO, but thats assuming I dont have a huge gap between comp and slide to add to my slide OAL.   Going to pick one up on Black Friday and find out.  I will advise.

Picked up an Apex threaded semi drop in.  Took me about an hour to fit it and get it dropped in.   There is a decent gap between the end of the slide and the start of the threads which I am assuming is to clear a booster.  Depending on how it fits in the G34 holster I may take it to a machinist and try and get the gap taken out.  Making a decision on the TBRC now.  The glock version is ~.05 shorter than the m&p version  but according to TBRC may cause trouble in m&p holsters.    Mine will never go in an m&p holster anyway so I don't think it will matter.    They are also now producing the stubby comp which will give me the best chance of coming to G34 length, but likely sacrifices some in performance.
