Low-pro Surefire mount

Recent posts had me thinking...why do I have to choose between a chincy $30 plastic mount or a $70 aluminum one that's never in stock?

Why not a mount with a really small footprint, no frills, hella strong, minimal hardware, and super low-profile? Oh yeah, and cost $40. And here it is...

I am thinking about having the lightening hole enlarged to accept a QD swivel. Making it a $40 sling/light mount. I wouldn't use the swivel but the utility would be nice for some.

That's a rocking little mount. I have always had a hard time with having to pay $80 for a piece of aluminum with a hole it it.

I think upping the hole size to take a QD would be a cool idea and shouldn't take too much more. I too am done for one and will take some nice pics of it Big Grin

Nicely done and get out of my mind! Today I was fucking with my gun (DO NOT mount a PWS FSC556 on a 10.5 inch gun with an 11 inch rail..."Timmy; fucking things up so you don't have to" Wink). It occured to me I could save space by mounting the QD to the light mount.

I'm in for at least two. Not sure what size I want yet though...

G2 and 6P ones will be up on Monday. E2 ones are still in the finalization phase as I want them to be really tucked into the space between the rails but fit all of the common ones.

I am cooking one up specifically for the JP and Troy VTAC style rails which will bolt right into the holes. It will also work on Larue, DD, KAC, and similar rails at the 10/2/4/7 o'clock, bolted into the vent holes.

Great idea and it looks solid! I can think of more then a few applications for these mounts.

Looks good, have you got any pictures of a light in it, mounted to a rifle?

I really like this. Low profile, only has whats needed. I can use a couple of these.

what mechanism is yours using to lock to the rail?
How does that compare to the one M4 posted?
Call me crazy but I see a 2 piece design & a 3 piece design

So, the implied rip off is the one piece tensioning ring, the orientation, or that it's black anodized? Confused

Time will tell if a set screw anchor will be functional. My assumption is that the width of the mounting base will determine that along with the dimensional consistency of the rail cut.

If it'll help I can sharp shoot your design with some features of it that I think DC's excells at?
I could also give you something I like about yours over DC's.
