I've recommended the SD9VE to people on multiple occasions when they are on a budget and trying to find something that fits most hands and is primarily for home use, not concealed. The gun is "cheaper" because it is fairly basic. No grip options, but it feels pretty damn good as is. The trigger press is heavy, but usable and the Apex sear and spring is a $30 option. Honestly, the gen 3 and earlier Glocks sold at the prices they did because of name. They don't cost more to make than the SD9VE and on that basis, "should" sell for close to the same if it wasn't for the added value of the name.
