VP9SK

steveg2 ·
consig will be glad to know I got a VP9SK Monday. Shot it today and it’s a darn good little shooter. I positively hate the 2nd mag with no finger support... but it works fine with the full size mags. It also likes to eat Federal 150 gr HST. Now then has anyone tried an Ameriglo bold for the front sight, and will it work with the standard HK rear sight?

If you crack this code I’d love to add a high viz front to my VP’s...my carry one has a 10-8 rear and the factory tritium front.

I am really tempted to get one because my VP9 is just a *little* too big in some discrete carry situations. But I really don't like not having my WML (XC-1 in this case) on my primary carry gun. My understanding is that there aren't enough rail sections to mount a surefire. How does it carry compared to a single stack?

I have been running the VP9 as my primary EDC since the Fall of 2014 and augmented it with a VP9sk since it came out. In cases where the VP9 is too hard to conceal I will try the VP9sk with the factory 13-Shot magazine. If that proves too much I will try the factory 10-Shot magazine with the flat basepad. In general, I find that the VP9sk works well on the belt ahead of hip. With its short length it works quite well and is very comfortable to carry. Pocket or ankle carry are quite feasible...

Thanks for the feedback. Pocket carry just doesn't seem to work for me, so I'm sticking to belt or similar (using a Trump Card for business casual currently), and it sounds like the sk would work well there. I'm with you on the VP9 most of the time, but for those times where I need to be more discrete than usual I think I'll try the sk. I've got an (admitted) Surefire snobbery, but would consider the TLR7. My concern is the "feel" of the switches. I like more positive feedback.

A friend and I were both looking at a VP-9SK at a fun shop last week. I love the feel of my VP-9 but the -SK grip feels like a bulb shape to me with less index on how the gun is oriented. This was on a new -SK as shipped to the dealer Do any of the grip panel options offer a slimmer feel? FWIW My “slim” gun when I’m not carrying the VP-9 is an XDs 9mm.

personally I liked it-and it shot very well- right out of the box.

One of my officers just picked up a VP9SK the morning of our last range day. Out of the box, he was shooting it better than his issued full-size VP9. A pocket pistol...it certainly is NOT.

Well, it certainly does depend on the size of one's pockets. Truthfully though it is too heavy to pocket carry. My 9mm Shield gets that duty and does it perfectly. However the SK is simply an awesome pistol. Just use the finger extensions because my pinky hanging off drives me nuts.

Anyone used Trijicon HD or HD XRs on their VP9SK? I put the XRs on mine and it’s hitting 2”low at 10 yards. Any advice would be great. Otherwise, I’ll just order some 10-8s or Vickers.

I was considering putting XRs on my full size VP9s. What sights were you using before?

I had the stock glow when lit up sights, which impacted fine. My full-size has the TFX/TFO sights (not bad, actually) and are fine.

Interesting you should mention shooting 2" low at 10 yards. That was my exact experience with shooting a friend's M&P 2.0 with Trijicond HD XRs (yellow front). My previous duty gun, G17, had the standard Trijicon HDs and didn't shoot low. Maybe I will avoid the XRs...

I have HD’s on my full-size and it’s “shoot the dot” out to about 10-15 yards. My SK has a 10-8 rear with a factory front and hits a bit closer to top of the front sight.

According to the Trijicon website, the blade heights are the same on the XRs as they ar on the HDs.

Do you mean cover the target with the sight? I’ll try it next range outing (hopefully this week).... but looks like I’m gonna be considering the 10-8’s (they worked great on my 45C). I’ll post back once I’ve had a chance to try shooting the dot.

How do you like the HD XRs vs the TFX? Looking to replace the stock meprolights on my VP9 (or at least the front).

Re: VP9SK

I was surprised how much I liked them. They came stock when I bought thr full size. I prefer a blacked out rear, but for a 3 dot setup, they work well and the visibility is very good, both in low, medium, and bright light. That said, I haven’t been very hard on the gun, so I don’t know how they will hold up.

I'm interested in this as I ws cosidering replacing the standard luminous sights on my VP9SK and one of my standard size VP9s (the other one has H&K's standard night sights already-and shoots fine)

10-4, I’m getting POI where the dot is rather than the top of the front sight.

Trijicon HDs, orange front circle (although yellow is good too)

I have the orange HD’s on mine and haven’t had any issues with hitting low. I have 10-8’s on my full size and love them too. Has anyone confirmed the TLR7 will fit the SK?

It does fit very nicely. And I know Blackpoint will make a holster for the combo (short list).

I picked up the LE version a few weeks ago so it had 3 mags and the night sights. It started with the large grips and shot great, but I switched to the smallest all around. Great little gun. I had to get it because there was an HK promo for a free mag and another HK promo for $150 in gear for law enforcement. I couldn't pass up an HK deal! Wild Bill

Does anybody have experience with black rhino concealment? They have an IWB for the VP9SK with TLR7 that’s the same price point as Blackpoint but less then half the lead time.

Well, it took a couple weeks longer than planned, but I got the SK back out to the range to try the HD XRs again. I tried “shooting the dot,” and it was printing somewhere between the top of the post and the dot. Probably closer to the top. I’m content. Guess I was pulling low the first time. Defintely loving this VP9SK.
