AAR Room rules

Follow these guidelines as a minimum when posting your AARs.

Include:

Name of Company
Type of Course
Date of Course
Location of course

Also, include good, bad, interesting, unusual and even the humorous. The more pertinent information you put in your AAR's, the more others can learn from your experience.

This is a Gear & tactics focused board. If you're articulate enough try to give a run down on what gear you used, WHY you used it, and what you found out about it by the end of the course.

POSTING PICTURES

Maximum size 640x480

If you post a photo it needs a caption. You don't need to give a thesis on all that's going on in it but if you can't describe WHY it's here then it probably doesn't need to be here

edit: size typo

So am I to understand these rules to mean that every photo needs to have verbage associated with it, even if a complete AAR is provided in the post? I'm assuming this is to reduce the number of photos in the AAR posts? Is this a content issue or a format issue? It seems like one more rule to have in place so when a new member posts an AAR he can be "mentored" for not conforming to the ever expanding control measures? Just curious. Smile

Just so I'm understanding the rules correctly, and passing on proper guidance to my employees, there are several photos in both of the AAR threads below that would NOT be acceptable, even though all the photos seem pertinent to the class and there is a tremendous amount of information in both threads?

Correct.

Photo posting has been being abused. Photos supplement an AAR: they do not make an AAR.

Is it okay to post the write up/text and then link to the pics? It might not discourage people from posting AAR's and would save bandwidth.

I know most of us are always interested in finding quality training and AAR's are a great way to learn about a training outfit, their bios and TTP's along with the opinions of those who attended the class.

I don't see any problem with that, and might be good for your purpose.
I'll run it up the flagpole, but right now, run it.

I agree 100% that the AAR's- and the accompaning images add a great deal to all hands- trainers, students and even this forum.

However, this only works if all hand comply and provide useful information.

Rock on!

Roger that. Just trying to look at different ways to get it done that will work for all involved.

Thanks for the follow up.
