So there I was all set to pick up a Razor HD 2 1-6... and Trijicon came in and fucked everything up.

My main problem is that I can't see worth a shit. I noped out on the 1-4s since 4x really doesn't do much for me. I mean its a crude test, but I've got 2x Primary Arms 4-14 FFP scopes and a 3-LOTS HDMR that I can set to 4x and I don't find it overly helpful. It is hard to explain, but 4x just isn't helpful with how I perceive the world.

Even setting them to 6x isn't great, but it would do - although I get the feeling once I knock the objective lens down that I'll feel like I'm looking through a straw.

I get the feeling 8x would be just fine - assuming the optic was up for it.

Now, I understand that the Razor and Trijicon illuminate their reticles differently. I also understand that I have allegedly good pictures through the Accupower 1-8, but I've not been able to filter through the "AIMPOINT BRIGHT!" and "XYZ DEATH DEALERS OF DOOM USE IT!" to find even functional pictures through the Razor 1-6. I mean I've seen a few... that are the size of a postage stamp... and may or may not have a hint of a red dot that isn't remotely like gazing into a pure red supernova as most people describe.

I'm not saying it isn't a great scope, or that it isn't what I should be buying, I'm just saying that I can't find good pictures. Or the signal to noise ratio is garbage.

Anyone had their hands on both (Accupower in RED)? Thoughts?Anyone have any really solid 'through the tube' pics from the Razor on 1x?

I'll post my Accupower shots with the hopes I'll get some Razor shots in return.Any advice, input, whatever is greatly appreciated.

Regarding the Vortex Razor:
The "Dot" is .5MOA (half the size of the "dot" in the center of the EOtech reticle), and while it may be considered "daylight bright" it isn't even close to being "aimpoint/eotech bright"... hell it's not even the brightest variable scope reticle.  Due to the illuminated dot being small and barely bright enough for outdoor daylight shooting, often times you will rely more on the reticle lines than the dot when shooting at 1x.  That can have negative effects on your speed when working up close at 1x, but that handicap can be overcome given enough time & training.  However if you're concerned about the amount of time, effort, and ammo it'll take to overcome that hurdle then a scope with an easier to see illuminated dot/reticle at 1x might be the better way to go for you... but YMMV so take the above with a pinch of salt.

The best thing to due of course is to test one out on someone's rifle, but if you can't get your grubby mitts on one to form your own opinion, then the next best thing is to view a high quality HD video that shows you exactly what looking through and using the scope is like...

Skip to "4:30" in the video to see a true 1st person view of the Vortex Razor's reticle both static and in use.  Watching the video will answer your questions about the Razor's reticle better than any picture can, and it'll likely have more impact than any anecdotal verbal/text responses you'll receive.

M6 you are a boss!

I could not fucking find that video. I'd seen it, it was probably the best look I'd gotten, and I couldn't find it.

I'll need to look at it when I'm not on syphilitic internet (12 down 0.25 up? Thanks AT&T, you guys fucking rock.), but that is exactly what I'm looking for.

Well, it's a 2FP scope, and Vortex claims that on 6x the dot is 0.5moa, which would mean that when you move to 1x, it's a 3moa dot (0.5x6=3).

Otherwise, if it's 0.5moa on 1x, that means on 6x that dot is 0.083moa, which I find impossible to believe.

Physics. It MUST be 3moa, or 0.083moa.
