I’ve been doing more research about optics and have decided I’m going to move away from the Eotech and get an Aimpoint. I feel it’ll better serve the role on a patrol rifle where I see temperatures from 100+ to a good bit below 0. I spoke with John Enloe from Aimpoint and he recommended either the T2 or M5. He said to forget about the comp M4. Has anyone had a chance to compare the m5 to the T2 and if it does anything better/worse? I do like the larger objective of the M4, but not sure that makes a difference once trained with the smaller window. Thanks

The M5 is a little bigger in length and height and uses a battery that you might have easier access to, but I'm not sure that matters much with a similar battery life between the two.  The M5 is also made of 7075-T6, so maybe the housing is a little stronger than the T2.

I have both and I couldn't say that the M5 does anything better than the T2  but I am hoping for, and expecting, a bit of increased durability.  The T-series are plenty tough but I have had the rheostat go on one that was beat up pretty hard and the lens crack on another that was not handled any easier.  I attribute those failures to mishaps and not design or manufacturing flaws.  The T-series has done me right for over a decade.

Then again, I wouldn't be upset with an M4/M4S either.  I am curious as to why he said to dismiss those.

Seems the same to me but I’ve been using micros for some years so the dot is where I expect it to be when I place the gun on target.

My eyes are also starting to go so maybe minuscule differences aren’t as apparent as they may have once been.
