I recently picked up an old Comp M that worked just fine. Next thing I know, I have no dot but it has been replaced by two springs in my field of view. WTF is an understatement.

I can't be the only one this has happened to. Any advice other than  "trash it?"

Did some searches but my computer looked at me the same way I looked at my optic.

In my expert opinion, it might be broken.  It's probably too old to be covered under any conceivable warranty, and not worth the cost of repairing, but it wouldn't hurt to contact Aimpoint and see what they say.

This is not a DRMO unit to my knowledge and I have no way to trace its history.

There is no doubt it's no longer covered under warranty.

I know there was a member here that worked for AP as he had helped me out maybe 12 years ago or so on a different unit. Maybe if I dig through my PMs I'll find something.

Has anyone ever disassembled one on their own?

I'm going to reach out to AP and get their take on it.

The artist formerly known as Basicload had a thread here on repairing Comp-Ms / M68s. Unfortunately I think it went away when we had to go all Daenery's on his posts.

A lot of knowledge lost there...hope it got saved to PDF somewhere!

I reached out to a guy on ARFCOM who had his same avatar but never received a response. There is a Basicload on TacSwap that I may contact next.

I found a series of videos on YT with whatshisname building a COMP at the Aimpoint factory. I was thinking of just reverse engineering it from there.

You do know that Basicloads company is Presscheck  Consulting? He has a FB page and a website.
