Any interest in a run of HSGI Strobe Light Pouches?

Hi folks,

It seemed to be a consensus here that the High Speed Gear strobe light pouch is one of the better products out there for a dedicated strobe pouch, but HSGI discontinued it a few years ago, I think as they transitioned to their TACO line.  I was hoping to find two Multicam pouches (I did get an OD pouch thanks for another member here), but I've had no luck.  Here's the old SKD listing for the pouch:

http://www.skdtac.com/HSGI-Str...odular-p/hsg.218.htm

I contacted HSGI, and they said that they can still produce this pouch as a custom order, with a minimum of only 12 pouches, which seems reasonable.  The rep told me that they would be $10 each, which seems low compared to their original list price of $18, so I'll have to confirm that.

I wanted to gauge whether anyone else here would be interested in this pouch if I have a custom run produced.  If it's only a handful of people, I'll probably just order a dozen Multicam and then put the extra ones up for sale in the Swap Meet.  Postage shouldn't be too expensive - I could just put them in a small padded envelope.

Anyone interested?

Dave

I'd be in  for at least one.

Thanks for the feedback. As I said, I'm suspicious about that low price they quoted, so I'll post an update here when I get more info from them, which will include a small amount to distribute their shipping cost per pouch, and then I would calculate postage on an individual basis.  They did say that they would need me to confirm how many I intended to order before they could give me a final price quote.

I could go for one.  I'd love to get a couple of their old smoke grenade pouches, but those are also discontinued.  They seem to have ditched several excellent products after Gene sold the company.

The smokes were excellent. I use one with my Vortex monocular. Not to add to your load 3ACR_SCOUT, but would they make a run of those as well?

I'll ask about the smokes too - I was just looking at those today after reading the discussion about current grenades and thinking that I'd like to get some of those.  My impression is that they still have the patterns for these past products but have focused on the TACO design, so they've eliminated those older "conventional" pouches.  Personally, I don't really like the "busy" design of the TACO with the elastic cord and everything.  Maybe I'm old fashioned...

Dave

At that price, I'm probably in for two also. Two rigs, why not?

When you clarify the price, ask if custom order is all the same color also. I can live with MC but prefer OD... maybe I can trade you for that OD one you already got if this comes through

Id be in for 2 at $10, maybe even 2 at $18.

If you get to pick color ways other than Multicam I'd be in for coyote or Woodland as a second. HSGI has been producing some of their TACOs in Woodland lately

Thanks. It looks like a great pouch.

I would be up for two smoke pouches if it gets worked out.

I would be down for two strobes and two smokes.

Ok, here's what I'm tracking for requests so far - I just want to post this confirmation before I send in the inquiry to HSGI today.

I'll ask about the other colors - I have a feeling that they won't want to do multiple colors in one order, but hopefully they'll be flexible.  Is there anyone who does NOT want a MC pouch if the other color isn't possible? Longeye - Did you have the same preferences for smoke grenade pouches in terms of colors?

Thanks, everybody.  Work is keeping me busy, so I apologize if this moves slowly, but I'll try to get it done as quickly as I can.

Dave

Both are headed "smoke grenade pouch" I think one should be "strobe".

Color is not critical to me, whatever works easiest for you.

Thanks for all the effort

"OD green" is generic to me. You can toss that and put me in the Ranger green column. And I for one am fine falling back to anything but black (or UCP!).

If prices stay good, go ahead and add me for 2 smokes as well.

Since this is custom, I suggest checking to see if they can use the WTF attachment system rather than those awful Malice clips. This is the 21st century.

Based on the $10 price that HSGI quoted, I have a feeling they may not be including a MALICE clip with the pouch.  I'm personally OK with that, because I have a stash of WTF straps that I can use with mine.  I definitely prefer those over MALICE clips and will use WTFs for mine, but I doubt that HSGI is going to convert over to those for this order. I'm guessing that just about all of us have extra MALICE clips lying around, but please let me know if anyone needs one. If they don't come with one, I can probably throw in one of my extra ones.

I sent the request off to them last night.  I counted up 24 requests for strobe pouches, but I'm going to order 30 to cover the inevitable people who see this thread about the time that I post that the order has arrived.  I also asked about the smoke grenade pouch, to see if they can still make those, and the price.  We're looking at about a dozen of those, so I'll probably order 15.  I'll update you all when I hear back from them.

Have a good weekend,

Dave

I wouldn't worry about ordering too many. I for one would grab an extra if you can't get rid of them. And like you said, there will be the inevitable, "can't believe I'm just seeing this".

Slight thread drift, I've used both MALICE and WTF, and always feel like there has to be something better. Anyone used the Maxpedition tacties or any of the other options?

You sir are a saint, ive been pissed ever since HSGI killed off their old line.  Good thing my trash bag is a tank, I dont know what the hell I'd replace it with if it finally died.

Ok, folks, I heard back from HSGI.  Here's the rundown:

They can only do special orders in multiples of 12 (I think this is a change from when I first inquired last year). They will produce multiple colors, but only in multiples of 12, so if we want something other than Multicam, we have to order 12 of them.  At this point, I'm inclined to order 24 Multicam, which is the exact number of requests that I have, but if a few people might want an extra for a buddy or something, I'll bump it up to 36.  I'm sure I can sell them.

They can produce the smoke grenade pouches for $20 per pouch, but again, they have to be in multiples of 12, so I'm planning to order a dozen Multicam.

All pouches include HSG Clips for attachment to MOLLE/PALS webbing.  I'm not familiar with them, but they look pretty much like MALICE clips:

http://www.highspeedgear.com/hsgi/long-clip-91LC.html

Please let me know if you want to drop your order based on wanting a different color.  Sorry about that, but I'm sure you all understand that I can't really order a dozen of another color.  I'll be out part of next week on travel, but I'd like to finalize the order by the end of next week (10 Feb), so please let me know by then.  Once I get the final order submitted, I'll have an idea of their shipping cost, which I'll distribute across the pouches equally, and then I'll determine final shipping cost to each of you when they arrive.  Thanks!

Dave

I swear I was up there on the chart right earlier, but I wanted to get 2 strobes, 1 smoke, so you are already up from your original count, yup.

Did they stick to the $10 price for strobes after all, or have my reading skills devolved that much?

Thanks again for all your work on this. Happy to pay upfront to defray your cash outlay. Feel free to over-estimate on the shipping.
