Something new from Arisaka www.arisakadefense.com ... I've been running the Viking Tactics http://www.vikingtactics.com VTAC TRX and Alpha handguards since 2009. Solid, simplistic, sturdy design, it's only downfall has been the ability to mount the light on the handguard (not forward of the handguard). Arisaka Defense recently released their "Inline Scout Mount" for the Surefire Scout lights for the Troy Industries handguards (round holes) and the VTAC Alpha handguards (oblong holes): http://arisakadefense.com/coll...ount-troy-vtac-alpha The Inline Scout Mount officers 3 different positions to attach the Surefire Scout Light to the mount it's self to accommodate shooter's preference for position of the light and interface with the wide selection of front back up iron sights or other accessories.

This is good!

I like the Arisaka mounts a lot and use them on my rifles with MLOK tubes, but being in Jersey, there are a lot of Troy tubes on guns - since all muzzle devices in NJ need to to be pinned, it's convenient to use a tube that uses a standard AR barrel nut. Just shave the barrel nut, cut off the delta ring, slide the tube on and twist & tighten.

I have a few Alpha tubes and these will do nicely. The IWC offerings are OK, but this looks better. A little cheaper and a little more secure.

 Welcome home Jeff!

Very nice to see you posting here again!  Seems like it has been a bit.  Oh, and I appreciate the product info too as I seem to have a need for something just like this.

What fpdsniper said above Jeff, IIRC it's been a long ass time since you been here, keep coming back brother, your insight is needed as always.

Thanks for the kind words Gents.  I'm going to try to contribute more on line.  Work and home life have been crazy the last several years, but I miss contributing and miss all the like minded individuals I've met here and other places on line.  You'll be seeing more of me this year.

The VTAC and Troy Ind TRX and Alpha handguards have been out since 2008, I've been running them since 2009.  There are a TON of them out there, they are a quality product at a decent price (I pay around $150 for a 13" handguard at places that offer a Mil/LEO discount), why no one else has filled this niche in the market until now is beyond me, but I'm glad that Arisaka came out with this mount!!!  I use IWC products and have tried their mounts for the VTAC  Alpha, the only down side is they put the light forward of the front edge of the handguard, which isn't a problem if you're running a 11" handguard on a 14.5" barrel or a 13" handguard on a 16" barrel.  But if you are running a configuration where the muzzle is close to the handguard like on a 13" handgaurd with a 14.5" barrel or a 11" handguard on a 12.5" barrel, you don't want the light so far forward.  Arisaka solved this problem with their new mount.

Good to see you again, Jeff. Will this work in MLok spec holes?

Yes, we make versions for both M-Lok and KeyMod handguards. The Troy/VTAC version was actually released a couple years after the others.

Thanks for the kind words Gents.  More pics in the work, hoping to spend a little more time on the boards in the upcoming year.

Erick,

No, the holes on the VTAC handguard are different size than MLOK.  If MLOK accessories would have worked it would have made my life much more easy and I could have gotten lights on my VTAC guns a couple years ago.  That being said Arisaka makes this exact mount for both KeyMod and MLOK.  They also make an offset mount for the MLOK, KeyMod, and Centurion CMR:  http://arisakadefense.com/collections/light-mounts

Hope this helps

Arisaka should make a handstop that is Troy Alpha direct attach compatible. Something similar to the LaRue Handstop in shape and size, but locks into the Alpha holes.

This was one of the first 14.5" M4 uppers that BCM released in late 08' or early 09'. Initially it had a www.laruetactical.com 11" handguard on it and I swapped that out a few years ago for the www.vikingtactics.com VTAC Alpha 13" handguard and their LPSM mount and a www.arisakadefense.com Inline Scout Mount for the VTAC handguard which will fit either the www.surefire.com m300 / M600 Scout light or the www.streamlight.comProTac Rail Mount 1 or 2 light, this mount puts the light very close to the back up iron sight. Recently purchased a used www.aimpoint.com M2 for this gun and put it in a www.midwestindustries.com Aimpoint mount, and upgraded the buffer system to a www.bravocompanyusa.com A5 receiver extension and www.vltor.com A5 buffer with rifle length spring. This gun has been through several classes over the years. www.magpul.com magazines and furniture and www.blueforcegear.com VCAS sling both of which I have been a fan of for well over a decade. I had the opportunity to run one of www.unitytactical.com Clutch Belts, very modular set up that has a ton of uses for low profile applications. The Glock 19 was customized for me by Ben Simonson at www.boresightsolutoins.com in late 09' or early 10' and has been through several classes and is one of my primary off duty guns and is still holding up strong!!!

They should but: I have mounted several things direct to my VTAC Alpha rails (have two) without adapters. Just bolt through them directly. Use Mesa shotgun sling loops bolted on for years now. And I'm not the only one; the handstop came with this upper I bought off someone here like this. I moved it back to accommodate the rail for the light. Solid as hell, keeps it lighter and significantly less snaggy and stabby.

I'm looking something for the Alpha Handguard - circular holes not slots. Not sure how well that would hold up on the Alpha holes. To much play.

IWC makes a couple of great sling mounts for the Alphas, I have them on a few Alpha tubes I have. I also have a couple of IWC Scout Light Mounts that work in Alpha tubes. I will probably be swapping them out soon for the Arisaka version they look much cleaner and if they are as solid as their MLOK mounts that I have, I know I will be pleased.

Arson Machine shop makes a nice light mount with a 1" ring for handhelds that is designed for the Alpha holes. Hopefully Arisaka is working on one as well. I have one of the Arson mounts on my Arsenal SAM 7R with Troy Alpha handguards holding a SF P2X Fury.

Currently I am using a small rail section with a LaRue handstop to get what I want. But I would l love to see a direct mount for Alpha holes option for a hand stop. And I am sure if Arisaka made it, it would be bombproof.
