Gentlemen, as we have gone through and figured out exactly what is going to happen with the revolving box O crap, it shall commence today.

Rules are as follows:

1. Once received, you will take what you need...no more, no less.

2. You will add something of your own to the box before re-shipping.

3. When you are done, you are responsible for advertising the next ship out.

4. There will be no $ changing hands for materials, just shipping which is to be incurred by the individual accepting the box.

5. Before you ship, provide a brief inventory of what is left and what you added.

6. In order to be eligible to receive the box, you have to be willing to re-ship the box when you are done.

7. In order to participate, you have to be a contributing member to LF.net at a very minimum. I would prefer you be a contributing member of the RYO, but I won't limit it. Please, productive members only. If you are a probbie without an intro post or a fucked up profile, forget about it.

8. This thread is not intended to be a request medium. It is a first come; first serve thread. No crying or whining if you didn't chime in quick enough once announced.

Below is the regional map so everyone is clear on their AOR.

Have fun with this guys. I think it can be something very beneficial to all of us.

Original Post
Lets try to keep everything here in this thread as to not muck up the entire room.

All, lets keep any needless posting to a minimum. Basically, keep it at "advertisement of availability", "I'll take it next", and "box received". I'll keep the thread policed and clean out old advertisements and the like. I'll try to keep only the most recent of information alive.

Will

International LFers,

I have been in high level discussions with Romie on the best way for us international members to participate in the Box O Crap Exchange. It has been decided that the international members will post photos of their crap here and if you want an item it will be shipped to you direct, you must have items to add to keep the box alive, so creating a "Virtual/Online Box O Crap" this will solve the problem of shipping a heavy box around the world full of stuff you may not need.

S.E.G

So here goes, my first conbribution to the "Virtual/Online Box O Crap" for us international folk. All the items are in Foliage Green.
13x D's 1"
10x Surface Mount SRB 1"
9x SRB 1.5"

One of those pork eating infidels.

Westcoast particpants-

Here's my contribution:

-3 10"x24" HDPE sheets
-2 1" Duraflex quick attach Male Stealth Buckles
-7 1" ITW Curved SR buckles (male and female)
-2 2" ITW Monster Ladderlocks

The following materials are all approx.-

-1 1/2 yrds., "Chris Osman Khaki" 1000D COrdura
-2ft., 1" Tan Velcro Loop
-2ft., 1" Tan Velcro Hook
-15 yrds, 1 1/2" Black 17337 Type webbing (exact specification unknown)
-15 yrds, 1" Dark Brown 17337 Type webbing
-4 yrds, 3" Dark Brown Polypro Type webbing
-8 yrds, 1" dark khaki 17337 type webbing
-1ft., 4" OD Loop

X-Ray Dave has first dibs. Sorry brother, I couldn't get it out today. It'll go out on monday.

Romie and Egg-
Here's a thought. After the boxes from each region circulate, would it be possible to swap "box's-o'crap" with other regions so we all benefit from each other?

-Rich

"Karma is only justice without the satisfaction"

Rich, I think that would be entirely possible. I think we should let the initial box go through about 3 or 4 folks in each region first though. If we just start jumping in and out of regions right off the bat we have already defeated the purpose of the region idea, which was to save on shipping. I do like the idea of inter-region swapping, but not right away. Does that make sense? Or am I retarded? Long day today playing fuck fuck games at the base, I'm not totally with it right now.

Will

Romie-
10-4 brother. I see what your saying. Here's what I was thinking. After a while, there won't be anyone requesting to recieve the box in each region after it's done going through circulation. When that person posts that there aren't anymore takers we can then swap the boxes with the other regions. DOes that make sense? Too many drinks tonight...

-Rich

"Karma is only justice without the satisfaction"

romie: thanks for posting a list of stuff you are sending out. That gives me a guideline for what to include in mine.

The interregional swapping idea is a good one. I think romie and rich are on the right track here.

SETTLES 0226: if you are following this, would you like to get the East Box first and dump some stuff in? Otherwise, I am now taking applications for the East Box. Shipping will probably take place on Tuesday.

But...how do we get the next guy in line to pay the shipping? Ship it postage due somehow? That could get awkward.

Re: the International Virtual Box...any particular reason that somewone in the US cant play in that as well on the same basis? Because I can tell you this...if somebody out there in The World starts putting up neat stuff that is unobtanium in the US, I may want a piece of that! Big Grin

It strikes me as natural that international folks would do well to scrounge around in their own backyards for things that are unique to their region, like different camo pattern Cordura and such.

Bullet308,

In my opinon if you have something to offer and there is something you want to take there is no reason why you guys cant play.

well, lets get a thread for the international box o crap too then. Weve gotta make sure to keep it nice and clean of BS though.

I spose contacting the one who has the certain thing one wants could be handled via PM instead of via posts in the thread?

Open questions:

First, are there enough Canadian participants to that already have stuff on-hand? I think there may be...in fact, y'all seem to be doing better than the eastern US...

Second, as a practical matter, most of the Canadian population kinda hugs the US border, all 3,000+ miles of it. What are the economics of shipping within Canada versus sending the US (NA?) regional boxes back and forth across the border?

Does the US side need to "seed" a Canadian box to some extent with certain materials to get them started properly?

Personaly, Im open to any suggestions....

>>>BULLET>>>

Cross border shipping can be problematic at times, but if the box is marked properly, then there should be few issues. If there are enough Canadian members...I'd be into that. A "seeded box" may be required.

That said, I could see how the box can get costly (by way of weight), if larger items are added. I wouldn't want the value/cost ratio to become so expensive that the items taken [from the box] aren't worth the cause. But I think this has already been addressed.

The virtual "bag of goodies" idea is very good in spirit. But lets take this situation for example:

Let's say I want some clips or D-rings from S.E.G. in Australia. If I only took half the lot, then someone else can pledge for the remainder. The onus would be on S.E.G. to package and ensure that he sends out the second package from "his pocket". What if he has not had a chance or doesn't need what is available in the virtual lot. Then S.E.G. is out of pocket twice without having had a chance to capitalize on any of the virtual goods.

I would love to do the virtual thing as long as there are enough people in it, who could dedicate the time and effort into it.

Just my $.02
