Does anyone know of a company the currently makes an LE type concealment cut vest that has a full size plate option?  I’m talking about a true concealment cut soft armor vest.   I have multiple Velocity vests and I think they don’t come close enough to the concealment level of my Safariland, ABA, or Point Blank vests. This is mostly because of the bulk of 500D.  Most of the cop vests will take 8x10 plates but does anyone make one that while still slick, will take a SAPI cut plate?  Crye is the only one that comes to mind.

The carriers for last Point Blank Alpha Elite vest I bought in '14 had stretchy interior pockets that held their 8"x10" special threat IIIA Speed Plates.

I recently replaced that with the current version of the same vest. The carrier has exterior pockets for plates. Even though I'm a full size human, the external pocket on mine will only take the Speed Plates. It was not wide enough to take a Hesco 210 plate.

There's a Las Vegas Armor company...Safelite Armor  that makes an Level IIIA+ vest with plate pockets...they also make a Level III soft armor supposedly capable of stopping rifle threats.

One of my issues vests is an Alpha Elite.  The Speed Plate is only rated for exotic pistol rounds and slugs when ICW.  Speed  Plate Plus will fit but the max size is the 8x10.  Much like Safariland if they just widened the pocket a little more full size plates would fit.  The Safelite carrier design is similar, only they widened the pocket.

I looked at these at SHOT. I may well be wrong but for now, I'm sticking with a more traditional set-up.

Experience with armor .gov acquisition has given me enough experience to know that they are not a contender but the carrier design highlights what I’m looking for.  Part of my just says send a carrier to BCS to be modified for this application.  I’ve had great experience with sending them one off projects before.  Their stitching is great.

FMFBest,  we use the Crye LVS on my team.  stupid concealable itself so I would ASSume if you used the covert carrier with a .5" plate (BZ STOP) it would work pretty well.  They the base vest plus plates in the Tactical Carrier is still crazy thin compared to something like my PIG with just plates.

The problem with building you a trim, concealable vest is the bulk and thickness of the SAPI plates themselves.

I could sew you something of poly-cotton and spandex, but front-and-back SAPIs (or even a front-only) just give it away unless you're wearing maternity Aloha shirts.

There is a balance in there somewhere.  I’ve used straight stand alone plates in the .60 to .75 range with Velcro straight on the plates and elastic straps from other systems.  It’s not bad from a profile standpoint.  The Diamond Back Tactical old school FAPC without cummerbunds isn’t bad either but  would be much better without the Molle bulk.

Point Blank FAS-CP is the nearest solution I know of.  We run them as overt carriers but they can pass as a concealable carrier.  They are designed to fit, and do fit, a 10x12 swimmers cut plate.  They are made of ripstop which is considerably lighter than 500d.  We've been able to order them in black and I believe they'll make whatever color you want.  They are made to match your exact armor panel size.  It's a good carrier and I think we pay just over $100 for them through TSSI.
