Is the Federal 9mm 115 grain VHP just Federal 115 grain JHP 9BP in a fancy box?  Specs look the same and I know most Federal uses a flash retardant powder.

Looks like it.  Just wondering because my dad gave me a box.

Its part of Federals Train & Protect line of training and low cost defense ammo. Couldn’t find anything specific to correlate it to 9BP. I’m seeing varying velocity claims in multiple sources online. 1144 FPS to 1180 FPS. I’d guess it’s decent ammo at a cost point that you could train more with what you carry, if 115 gr. carry ammo is your thing.

Normally carry Better ammo in Speer/Federal line.  Just leaving for back home and I got my Glock 19 back from them and he shot my Speer Gold Dot that was in my magazines.  He has three boxes of Critical Duty 135 grain and this one box of 115 grain.  To load up my mags and really do not want to travel into town this weekend in AL.  Just carrying my 1911 Springfield Range Officer with HSTs and the cop shop here is closed on the weekend.

Got home loaded up my Box of HSTs 124 grain plus P so no worries.  Just a temp measure.
