Hey folks,

I'm a new owner of a 7.62x51 rifle, using old G3 mags. I cannot find any vest mountable mag pouches that fit these mags that work with molle. I bought one that said it was for .308, but if you got mags into the pouches you might never get them out. Any advice what works for these things, molle compatible? Thanks.

HSGI Tacos...... or a similar design will work with the G3 mags.... Snake eater tactical, Eagle adjustable ( if you want to spend big money) Tyr's copy of the taco.... also any double AR style flapped pouch will typically fit a single .308 mag but it is a lot of space taken up on the rig for a single 20 rounder. BFG 417 pouches will work as well if looking for a lower profile option.

On my triple purpose PC, I use double M4 mags pouches from Blue Force Gear. They work for 1-2 M4 mags, 1 FAL/G3/AR10 mag, a shotgun placard, a CS grenade, flash bang, or an ersatz IFAK (6" Oales dressing).

Get German/Portuguese etc issue ones & have MOLLE straps attached?

Got some German pouches; took some mods, but got them to attach via Molle. Thanks.

What I have seen done is obtain worn or damaged MOLLE pouches: the straps & rear seem to survive regardless of what happens to the front.

You might also luck onto dirt cheap new or as new pouches nobody wants...say ACU grenade pouches.

Quick DIY solution:

-cut the extraneous fittings at the rear of the pouch you want to use

-cut the rear panel from the donor pouch

-trim that panel, melt lose threads

-determine where you want the MOLLE straps on the pouch you want to use

-glue the MOLLE panel to the rear of that pouch

Alternatively, find someone with a machine who can do a more professional job for you.
