Does anyone have any experience with these?  I ask as there seems to be few of my usual suspect vendors that carry them.  Gun Mag Warehouse seems to be my only normal go to place that consistently has them in stock. I'd guess being a Glock OEM mag that there aren't any issues with them.  I'd like to replace my backup G17 mags with Arredondo +5 extensions.  Seems these would be a better option for backup carry as it removes the possible failure point of the extension.

Original Post

Hi,

My experience is distinctly limited. I too had difficulty finding them in stock, Brownells has/had them and I kept trying to get free shipping, they state they have a arraignment w/Glock not to do so.  Finally caved and bought three to check out.

So far only shot one, very limited use (more use on Thursday).  I could load to full capacity by hand (no loader used). Did it the day before, following morning it was Glock OEM boring. Could seat it in a G19 w/o undue effort, fired pairs and failure drills until lock-back when emptied. Repeated the process one fully loaded and once with 10 rounds. Same result.

I'll  repeat this week, if no issues, will open and shoot the othe two and try in a different G19 and a G17. I don't expect to have much to report.

Though obviously shorter that the G18 mags, they would still be a little awkward to belt carry concealed, unless maybe you a 7' tall (I'm not). I took rough measures of a G17 in a Milt Sparks single OWB and it was slightly over 5"  The 24rnd  mag in the same pouch was about 7.25" so doable.

YMMV

Thanks , brother. This is what I expected and essentially wanted to hear.

I’m not 7’ tall. About 6’5” in my boots and have no issues concealing a pair of G17 mags with +5 Arredondo extensions. I think I’m going to pick up a pair and shoot the snot out of them and retire my G17 mags with extensions to either vehicle or training only status.

Mojo,

Sounds like you'll be set.  About the only surprise was the relative ease of loading.

Brownells will work with coupon codes with Glock products but you have to enter it at the very last possible point. Right before check out, not in the cart.

GGAMMELL,

Thanks and I did get the good guy discount and another special, but as I loaded the code for free shipping, a pop-up would say "Remove Glock products to use code ".  I spent way too much time trying to dodge a $4 shipping bill, but finally called and the very polite guy said that they were bound by an agreement with Glock on shipping, go figure.

Stay safe

Thanks. GG

MOJO, and all,

I broke out the other two and  loaded all three to capacity yesterday.  Today, through a G17 (stock as far as frame and barrel, "-" connector and NY2 Spring)  all performed as designed.  Fed all rounds w/o issue, all locked back as they should . 72 rounds of S&B 124gr FMJ in pairs, failure drills and a few NSRs .  Equally well with a lesser amount of 147gr CorBon, Gold Dot and HST .  Followed by a mixed bag of FMJ 115 and 124 .

So far,  limited scope testing, GTG

I bought a couple when Brownells had them.  I only used two of them a couple times and am not ready to put them into service yet.  So far, typical Glock mag functioning.

I like that they are 24 rounds for less cost than a mag with an Arredono extension.

I bought them with the intention to switch them for standard mags when I am involved in planned events, some search warrant assigned duties, assigned less lethal ect., where I might not be carrying a rifle and want more ammo available than standard mags.  (or to put in my active shooter bag.)  They are obviously larger than standard mags but not so so bad as to get in the way or tip out of a duty mag pouch.

They seem like a cost effective extended magazine, so far.

We were just discussing these extended mags over coffee after briefing the other night and wondering how they worked -- and now we know. Lightfighter strikes again

I have a handful of Magpul 21’s. I’ve had a pair of +5 Arredondo's for both G17 and G19 mags going back to before the Mapul 21’s hit the street.

Glock OEM and MagPuls are my go toos!

Like the MagPul 12 round G26 mag. As the answer for that platform.

How's the length on these compared to Magpul 21s?  I've been carrying Magpul 21s as my reloads on duty for about 6 months.  Have around 300 rounds through them with no issues.

who prepares my hands for war.

Not sure how, yet , they compare to the 21’s but they are about 1/3 “ longer than a G17 with  + 5 Arredondo extension.

I don't have any Magpul 21's to compare, but measured along the back of the Glock 24's, bottom of floor plate to top of feed lips is about 6.5".  Measured with a ruler, so 1/8-1/4" margin of error.

The magpuls are designed to fit inside the 140mm competition box for your reference. They are a little shorter than the Glock 24 mag which will not fit in said box.

I think you are within your margin of error. I’ve seen 6.38” published as the overall length. And I forgot to bookmark where I saw that, so I have no hard reference to provide.

My first sample should arrive this coming Wednesday. Preparing for a low to mid 40’s day to break it in. Possible left over white Christmas snow still on the ground. Should be an awesome day.

Early Christmas for me, my 24 rounder showed up yesterday and I called the weather right. Snow on the ground this morning. Not much, only about a half inch, should make the 140 mile round trip drive to my moms interesting with temps hovering around the freezing mark and idiots still going 80 mph in slick conditions.

So I got my 24 rounder out this morning. Good day for it, about 45 degrees and no wind chill at 10:00 A.M.

Put a full 50 round box of 124 gr. +P HST and 2 full cycles of 124 gr.  NATO Spec thru it with no issues. For my less than full strength and dexterity  left hand mine is not any easier to load than any other OEM Glock mags. The rounds do rattle a bit when fully loaded but in fairness so do several of my OEM 17 round mags. So far I’m pleased and will definitely pick up at least one more.

Another contender being release, Magpul  27 round, 170mm length.    Great price if they prove reliable.    Especially seeing as the Glock 24 rnd'er seems to be hard to find.

Thanks  Stray Round.  Let me see, Glock 17 round, Glock 24 round, Glock 33 round, ya they can suck more money out of me for a MP 27 round mag or two .

The MagPul's  for my 26, 19 and 17s have all been totally reliable so far, hundreds not thousands of rounds.

Well,  finally saw the PMag 27rnd on Browells for a good guy price and free shipping.  Received them early in the week. Fully loaded them on Tuesday, free hand/thumb, last two took effort to load, but fully seated.

Took them to the range this AM along with a largely Stock G17 ("-" connector and NY2 Spring).  From a sample of one range session:

#1 - Took firm pressure to seat to seat on a closed slide ("Did we cover push-pull?).  Cycling the slide was tighter than usual, but no issue, chambered a round w/o issue.  Fired 5 each at 7, 10 & 15 yards, the. The remained at 21 in pairs or failure drills. No issues, slide locked back.

# 2 & 3  - No issues seating mags, no issues feeding or locking back.  Shot them dry, re-loaded the remaining rounds in Mag #1 and completed shooting pairs or failure drills at 7 yards, no issues.

Conclusion - Indoor range, S&G 124 grain FMJ, as boring as shooting Glock mags under similar conditions.   YMMV.

Hi all,

More shooting, MP 27 rounders, nothing significant to report.  Same MO, load fully, 1-3 days before the range.  Same G17, fired slow, pairs, failure drills and an NSR or two.  Equal split of American Eagle 124 and 147gr.

Only thing different was loading Mag #3 with AE-124gr, by hand got difficult as hell.  I got 27 in but it was tough. The Mag fire fine, no malfunctions. OAL and case diameter comparisons with my calipers show no significant difference.

Ran some GD and CorBon JHP 147gr today, nominal.  Overall 300+ rounds (only slightly more than  100 per mag). No failures of any kind. YMMV

I have 250 rounds through a Glock 24 rounder.  Mix of Magtech 115gr and Winchester RA9B 147gr JHP (our duty round).  Test gun is a gen. 3 G19.

2 failures- .  1 failure to feed, one failure to eject

FTF was definitely ammo related due to a crease in the casing.

FTE was unable to replicate with multiple shooters.  Unsure of the source.

Both incidents occurred early in the mag’s service life, like the 1st 50 rounds.  As noted, I can’t necessarily blame these on the mag.

Full and partial mag drops (5ft onto concrete, indoors) resulted in no damage to the mag.  Top cartridge typically comes loose; that’s about it.

Our SOP requires OEM magazines and extensions for our handguns, so these are a welcome addition.  I own, and like, the Magpul 21 rounders, but they’re not an option as of now.  After showing the Chief, he asked where he could get one.  I’m going to try to get these on our uniform account

"Absorb what is useful.  Discard what is useless.  Add what is specifically your own." -Bruce Lee

I’ve got close to 250 thru each of my 2 24’s with zero issues. Both have been dumped in dirt, mud and snow with no adverse affect on functionality. I have half a dozen MP 21’s that I keep because they are not as reliable as OEM’s, for me.

Test bed for me is my comped G19.3 AND G17.3. Ammo has been 124 NATO Spec, 124 +P HST.  147 +P HST, 147 Ranger T series and 147 standard pressure HST.

No MP 27’s yet.

My 2 samples are now up to about 350 rounds each with no issues other than the aforementioned rounds rattling in one of the 2 (mag #36). I tried taking it apart on more than one occasion but when re-assembled it would still rattle rounds. I had a pair of Arredondo +3 extensions that had no home so I put them on my 2 24’s. That changed the dynamic in #36 enough so that with 27 rounds now it does not rattle. #37 is also rattle free. 100 of the 350 rounds each have been in this configuration. So now I won’t have to wait on getting Magpul 27’s as I cobbled together my own probably better and more reliable 27’s.

Still eminently concealable in JMCK AIWB mag pouches. I’m pleased. Now I just need to get “my” governor and legislators to leave me and my mags alone and I’ll be GTG.
