Want to by a car with a Hemi engine?  First car with one was the Dodge Magnum, not the Charger.

Are you referring to modern Hemi's,  because Chrysler had a hemi...the Firepower back in 1951.  I'm not sure if in 1951 Dodge, Chrysler, and Plymouth were the Mopar conglomerate or still independent entities.  Firepower was the Gen 1. Gen 2 being the 426 Hemi and Gen 3 being the more modern versions found in 2003 and newer like the Mitsubishi 2.6L engine, and modern Dodge offerings or the RAM 1500 Hemi truck. That being said, I understand and agree with your marketing comments.

O.T drift apologies.

Yes. Modern hemi’s of the 2006-2007 flavor.

Glock guy at the range today with a table of guns. Played with the cutaway, got a good story of the QC guys drilling out the firing pin hole, firing a live round with the high speed camera.

Asked if he brought anything new and good to show off like the 48 with rail. Regretfully no, but a black slide 48.

And then, WHY they launched with silver.

Because when the 19x (at least the CB ones) "fell on it's face" the machines to make the slides in colors-other-than-black are just sitting there gathering dust. Glock Austria wanted to put the tooling they had invested in to work, insisted the new ones come with not-black slides, and silver was the agreed on one.

It didn't work out. The change is because they didn't make the expected sales numbers, and it's been proven to Austria already as US black-slide order rates are much higher.

As much as I like Glock (owned them since my first G17 "Gen1" serial number BH590, in 1988), they have really screwed the pooch a bit recently.

First, they should have called the G19X the G17S instead, which would have removed most of the confusion about it, and if they were going to bring out a copy of their military trials submission, at least bring out an exact copy. Second, they should have brought out a black version with the same model number, leaving the G45 number free for their commander sized single stack .45. Third, they should not have brought out their "concealed carry" G43X and G48 in silver, and gone straight to black.

Just my 0.02.

I must be the only one but I like the silver slides and hope they aren't discontinued.

On the other hand, I had a  SIG P228 two-tone long before Keffer Sutherland  in "24" but then I got shamed into feeling like a poser.

No, you’re not the only one. Given the choice between silver and black I’d take black but if silver were the only option that wouldn’t deter me from buying as I do like it, Sutherland-esque though it is.

You gotta hand it to Glock....they definitely figured out the whole Marketing thing.  42 ->43 ->43X/48 (silver)->43X/48 (black)->43X/48 (w/rail) -> ????.

Every time something new has come out, it's just enough of something "new", that it stirs the pot.  First the 42 came out...."well, it's a .380, but it's a Glock and concealable, so I'll take it".  Then the 43 came out..."I already have the 42, but this is 9mm, so I've got to have one".  Then the 43X came out...…"I know I already have the 43, but this is 4 rounds MORE, and it's a long grip, so I've GOT to have one" (never mind the +3/+4 grip extensions).  Then the 48 came out (in SILVER)....."I know I've already got the 43 AND 43X, but this is a 4 inch barrel, better for accuracy (and it's the 10 rnd capacity), so I've GOT to have one (even though I HATE the "color")".  Now the 43X and 48 have come out in Black....."I HATED the Silver slide, so I've GOT to get a Black one....(even though it's probably cheaper and makes more sense just to take my silver one and get it ceracoated)".

NEXT will be the 43X/48 with a RAIL.....then NEXT will probably be a RDS capable.....and on and on.  Meanwhile, besides the pistols, then there's the magazines (42, 43, 43X/48) and the holsters and whatever additional extras you buy for them.  It IS getting a bit annoying for sure.

BUT.....can anyone honestly say that the 48 (10rnd single stack 9mm with 4" barrel) is not VASTLY superior to the initial 42 (6rnd single stack .380 with 3+" barrel)??  In the end, they ARE improving as they go along.

What IS frustrating is.....if you looked back at what people ASKED for in the first place, it's probably the 48 or maybe the 43X......in BLACK.   Do the 42 and 43 fill a niche, in strict gun law states like CALI, that the 43X/48 couldn't (like stupid low magazine capacity)?

Yep, Glock definitely preyed on Americans desire to either 1) own one of the "set" 2) or have the latest and greatest.  The old idea of "Be careful not of the man with many guns; but the man with ONE gun, that knows how to RUN it" seems to be lost on some.

Full disclosure, YES, I have a 42, 43, 19 and 17....and would LOVE a 19X/45, 43X/48 and when the railed/RDS versions come out, I'll take those too.   Unfortunately/Luckily (depending on your POV), I don't have the disposable income to do that.  So I'll get TTI +3 extensions for the 43 and be happy (I can buy quite a few extensions for the price of a 43X).

For cheap bastards like me, the trick is to keep trading up (like real estate).  Whenever I get the itch for a new gun (and the itch is strong for G 48), the Mrs. lectures me blah blah blah  "no more guns"  blah blah…  I traded in my Beretta 92 for my S&W  SD 9.  When G 48s become available up here, I'll probably trade the Smith in on that and pay the difference.  I know it seems counter-intuitive to lower one's total arsenal but po' folk haven't as many choices...

I bought a G48 in early July and I now have just over 400 rounds through it.

I really like it. Currently my warm weather concealment gun is a G43 and the cold weather concealment gun is a G19. I'm not sure the G48 will replace either gun in that role, but I really like it anyway.

I taught for a total of 13 years in the local regional police academy. I REALLY wish a Glock in this platform size would have been available 25 years ago. In every class we had two or three shooters (usually females but not always) who had small hands for whom a big service pistol with a double column magazine was too damn big. If they had S&W 59 series guns, we'd try to steer them to a S&W 39. If they had Sig 226s, we'd aim them at a P225. If they had a Beretta 92F, we would suggest a 92M. But there was never a Glock with a smaller and thinner grip we could offer as an alternative. The school had Arizona Response Systems do a grip reduction on a G17 and G19 that we used as loaner guns and that worked pretty well but a gun the size of a G48 would've worked better.

I think the G48 would make a great duty gun for shooters with small hands, presuming somebody begins to produce a suitable duty holster.

I had read mixed results- some claiming same POA / POI others claiming to get 48 specific sights. I made the mistake of ordering 43 sights as Trijicon didn't make 48 sights and rolled the dice, only to find them shooting low. I just replaced them with Glock OEM 48 sights, while they still shoot a little low, much closer to POA.

Did some work with my G48 today.  Added a flat faced Overwatch Precision TAC trigger, undercut the trigger guard a bit and added Trijicon Fiber Sights. Heading to the range in a bit, but so far im liking this little pistol.  If the 15 round mags come to pass this may become a serious contender for primary EDC, especially down here in El Paso where it's nice and warm.  20190817_13101120190817_13102220190817_13121620190817_131308

Well... It is Dawson so order the exact front sight height you need. They will make anything within reason. Precise zero is kinda their thing.

The TAC trigger is great.  It has some significant take up, but overtravel is pretty short and reset is positive.  I love the TAC trigger, and almost all of my glocks have them now.  The only thing i make it a point to do it polish the trigger bar, etc. to really clean up the feel of it, and once it all has a mirror shine to it, it is pretty close to perfect.

Range session was solid and this gun is a shooter with these new sights.  I'm happy with it.  Now just seeing how much capacity i can squeeze out of it.

Does anybody make +2 extensions for the G43X or 48? I've been looking but so far I have not been finding

Not sure - but this is interesting:

I’m not entirely sure but I think my latest “the Glock Store” mini catalog had +0 ,+2, and +3 extensions.  No knowledge of their quality.

Do metal mags and polymer mag releases play well together? I’d think that would cause excess wear.

But if they get it all worked out, talk about a game changer...
