I Think Larue makes some Great stuff.  But they just came out with the "Larue Cagulowa".  Who the Heck thought this Rifle Strap Hanger Up?  What kind of need do people have to carry their rifles in such a manner?  Have Americans forgotten how to hold or cradle a Rifle without the assistance of this Rube Goldberg device?   Does this allow the Millennials to keep their hands soft and supple?  What is Going on with this Rifle Accessory?

Please Help Me understand this one.

I saw that earlier today on Soldier Sytems. Didn’t read the copy but it looked to be leather so yes soft and supple hands for the rosy palmed millennials.

From his email the other day, he found and uses this due to an injury.

Whelp, I blame this new product on yoga pants. Wait ! Hear me out.
While working out one day at a gym called OrangeTheory, the female yell-leader instructor must be a model for yoga pants or a LuLuLemon plant. Anyhow, the whole aura she had goin’ on caused me to lift a larger barbell behind my head than my age group (old) could handle. Bam !! Torn right elbow.
Fast forward to now. Elbow is slow to heal but I need to hike with a rifle …

"As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprize, and independance to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks."

On my ranch hikes, using my injured right arm, I couldn’t find a comfortable way to carry my scoped 10-22. My invention demon jumped onto my right shoulder and drop kicked my right ear. Bam again !! I listened to the invention demon and came up with the Cagulowa ™ –
Carries Gun Long Way.

Trust me, this is nice to have. Makes carrying scoped rifles a gamechanger. Tell your gal you are sick of Valentine’s Day chocolates and you want a Cagulowa™ Carry Handle instead. And no, silly, it won’t change you rifles zero (unless you duct-taped your scope on).

Be advised, these are made by slow walking saddle makers, so put your order in and give us a few days to knock you one out.

Enjoy,

Mark LaRue

Well, the foundation of the free enterprise system is if you don't like it , don't buy it.  Kind of like the Ford Edsel .

Um, I'm not buying anything that's gonna get my ass beat by my father because I used a yoga pants inspired invention that I carry my rifle around by the scope with. Shifty zero? You wanna risk sending a shot where you didn't intend outside of a controlled range with berms and ballistic backstops?

Oh I wish I could afford a $2k scope that wouldn't be affected by dragging it around by the tube.

Location: in SE Idaho, the birthplace of television.

Issues I can see:

1. Carrying a rifle around in the woods like that, I can see muzzle thumping every tree on the trail.

2. Countdown till someone gets DQ'd at a match for carrying a rifle around like that.

3. The echoing voice of my drill sergeants from years ago yelling "IT'S NOT A BRIEFCASE, IT'S A WEAPON! CARRY IT LIKE ONE!"

Yah.

Even of the weapon is provided with a inbuilt, purpose designed carry handle as specified by your Army...you still can't use it.

"IT'S NOT A BLOODY HANDBAG YOU NUMPTY!"

Did the sling somehow become obsolete overnight?   Even for long distance hiking, did Eberlestock go out of business?  I fail to see the usefulness of this, but good on him for finding a solution that works for him.

I cringe everytime I see someone carrying their rifle around by the optic.  At matches, it happens a lot, and while perhaps the incidents of shifted zero, or damage to optic, or attachment is low, i fail to see why it is any more practical that simply carrying the rifle, like a rifle.  It's probably not going to be too long before someone creates a M240/M249 style handle on a pic rail attachment that people can throw on the precision rigs to carry like this too.  I mean, after all.....Larue sells them.

Uhhhh... yeah...no! Maybe its good for Mr.Larues'  particular single situation but the answer is a sling on good healthy shoulder. I saw a GI sling/strap for $2 at a gunshop somewhere recently if money is an issue but, don't see that as a problem with him at all. Or, if not critical to job and/or lifesaving function, as my Dr said to me once "Stop your shit & let it heal correctly!!"  Love his mounts and other stuff but not this one, this time around...

I went back and found that email ad. It had me thinking, why doesn't he just lower his hand about 6-8 inches and grab around the underside of the action. It's pretty much the exact grip...

Would also be lighter since you wouldn't have that dumb thing on your scope.

saw the picture from this on reddit a bit ago, didn't know it it was a LRT product thought it was as gay as boy george eating soup with a dick, thanks to LF I found out it's a LRT product and now I think it's still s gay as boy george eating soup with a dick produced by a company that should know better.

I think larue is just losing a bit of their edge in innovation honestly. Their mounts and rails have been pretty much unchanged. The new nut system was designed as a response to a gov contract, not inhouse engineers trying to make products better. No MLOK to be found out there except as the reciever set, no slim or updated handguards. Machining on the geissele stuff seems better, at least the finish. Wish they would add some cl hf barrels, 6.5 creed to the OBR, some ambi features like KAC....

Agreed, their lineup isn't much different than it was 4 or 5 years ago.
