The name of this knife is not lying.  Since Hoback knives are super stout to begin with, he seldom builds the "overbuilt " folders that I like.  Well, he decided to take a shot at it and came up with this, the Husky.  He was not fucking around.  This thing is a BEAST.   Looking at the data card he provides, you can notice the thickness of the frame on both sides and the blade.  We're talking nearly 3/4 of an inch across and 11oz of weight.  Make sure your belt is tight.

It came about an hour ago.  I flipped it a little bit to start to break it in.  Then I hit it with an injection of nano oil.  Instantly slick as shit.

I really like but hate Arizona Custom Knives and their damn 3 payment plan.  I always have one knife going.  Bastids.

Hate the name.

Ever since I was tortured with the Sears Toughskins Husky Jeans as a kid instead of what all the other kids were wearing, I've hated the word Husky.

Won't get a big shaggy Siberian fur missile. Won't buy off-brand generic tools. Won't cheer for university sports from the Northwest Pacific.

Call it something else. Hoback Big Fella

I remember a conversation, not that many months ago. Included were a handful of lightfighters from the northeast. Beer was in attendance, Guinness as I recall, as were wings. One of them was showing the others his newest stabby thing. Mentioned it was the last one he was going to buy.

Uh, huh.

curious how you sharpen that edge? I use my knives a lot ... I'm a bear on them. I dig in dirt, break tips, use them as screw drivers, baton them through stuff et al. Sharpening is a key feature for me to put the edge/tip back on.

I've started gravitating towards "single radius" edges instead of the wavy, disjointed edges due to sharpening a lot.

I was just on his sight looking at that thing yesterday...it’s a monster! I’m still trying to find a way to justify buying an A-8 slimline, his knives are rad.

I do not sharpen my knives.  I send them to the makers who sharpen them for free or for a small charge.  I don't want to fuck up the edges.

You just know that with the way you bleed that if you sharpen it your self you WILL finger fuck it and start leaking.

<probably a smart move to send it in...>

I recall beer.  I recall pizza.  I recall chicken wings.  I recall that we were 30 to 40 years older than the college students when they came in.  I recall the black sketch artist dude who wanted to draw us but we gave him pizza instead.  But I dont remember saying that.

Dang.  That's hardware that you can use when you need to.  Hardware like old school Craftsman, not Husky.  I think my ZT is embarrassed and my Randall and Ek Commandos are lonely for a Husky to nestle alongside them.
