Just came in yesterday.  Yet another in a long line of folders I am trying out for dominance in my pocket.  We have a winner.

I know a lot of guys rotate their EDC and use them for mundane tasks such as opening mail, slicing up cardboard boxes, cutting food, etc. but I have dedicated cutlery for things like that.  I'm looking for something when I may have to get stabby or get my slash on.

While a folder of just about any type won't beat a good fixed blade for self defense tasks (I'm still looking for one), folders are usually just more convenient to carry as in throw it in the pocket and go.

This is the nicest folder I have ever owned.  Ti frame,  SS double row bearings, 3.75" acid washed, chisel grind, wharncliff blade in AEB-L steel.  Wicked sharp as a slasher should be.  It is a flipper and deploys quickly and super smoothly.

Note the attack dog in the last two pics waiting to unleash its fury against those who may trespass.

Can it be a true LF thread - Especially a Conn’s new gear thread  - if no one asks?

So, since this purchase is really all my fault, can I have it?

I was sitting back waiting til after my lunch and if no one had asked by then I would not only  have been disappointed, I would have asked.  Seems like one needs to be here for about 10 years or more for the ”Can I have it?” Response to be an ingrained natural occurrence.

Very nice, kinda reminds of a "straight razor" ,  just wondering, what kind of "coin" are we talking here? & build time?

Difficult to say for time as I purchased this from Arizona Custom Knives where it was in stock.  This was a 2018 Blade Show knife purchased right from the maker.  A LOT of people that go to Blade purchase high end knives at the maker's normal price then post them for sale on the forums  to flip them.  You would have to ask Merriken on his site what his wait times are right now.

Price.  The is a "base" Moby.  He makes this size and a "XL" (which would be illegal to carry in CT.)  He varies the blade steels, pivot, bearing, flipper/non-flipper and hole design as you like.  I got this for $600.  The Blade Show price was slightly above that.  I have seen these knives go up to around $1400 with options.

As an aside, a lot of custom makers ship their blades in shitty little cardboard boxes or just a soft pouch.  This guy goes crazy with a real mini Pelican with the pressure valve, his patch velcroed on the top, a little window on the side with a piece of paper that you can write on to say what the contents are, a oil applicator with a nice, thin needle tip for lubing the pivot, a hex key for disassembly and a padded, velvet covered pillow for the knife to rest on.  Freaking neat.

Looks like something Jet Li would carry to covertly be a Chinese chef on the side... whip it out to dice up some onions and make some General Tsos chicken.

I'm interested in why you went with that blade profile. I'm not a ninja by any means, but I would assume having the option to stab would still be ideal were this to be a blade for anti social purposes.

Well, one reason....and probably the leader in the clubhouse.....is that I have no fucking idea what I am doing.  Putting that aside though, I was thinking that slashing, while not as instantly lethal wound causing as a stab into a major organ (excepting slashing the throat of course), is easier to do and is more of a "give an attacker pause" immediately.

The end game in all this is my pistol.  Either I used it first and don't need a knife, I was asleep at the switch and was able to deploy the knife until I could get my gun up or the knife was all I had and we'll see how things go.

As to stabbing, it is hard to see from the pics but the chisel grind plus the tip shape would allow for a stab.  I mean with enough force you can stab someone with anything but especially on lightly covered or bare skin this would work.
