Mossberg Model 500A

So I have a Mossy 500A that I just put a Tac Star 4 round side saddle on and am planning on putting the Magpul SGA stock on it, and maybe a 20" barrel and an 8 round tube.  I'd like to put the Magpul Fore end, too. This is where I may run in to problems.

Mossberg has made 2 lengths of Action slide assemblies: 6 3/4" and 7 3/4" and I can't tell by looking which I have. I do know that virtually no one makes fore ends for the 6 3/4" version.  I can't find anywhere which version I have, let alone how old the gun is.   Does the collective that is LF have any info that can help me out.  I don't want to be throwing money at parts if I don't need, too ( i.e, if I have a 6 3/4" version I'd have to buy a complete 7 3/4" action slide assembly to be able to utilize the Magpul fore end).  I'd like to think that I have a 7 3/4" version which makes things easy.  Help! Please.

Thsnks Barry. It will help. I  had the Brownells page already saved. The shotgun world stuff will help provided I decipher the rambling nearly incoherent writing.

Mark,

Save yourself some money and just buy a newer gun.  Trying to modernize that shotty is like throwing money at a Spanish Astra pistol in 9mm Largo.  Gun value will go up maybe 10% of the amount you spend trying to improve it and when you're done, it still won't be the standard of something newer.

Yeah I kind of already had that figured out. My son said just buy everything you need. To which I said well then my additions to it will add up to more than I soent to get it in the first place. He just said Derp. Referencing his own just buy the stuff comment.

Thanks Mark. Logic prevails.

Nearly incoherent writing is an attribute shared by many "writers" on the web. The only thing worse are the YouTube videos that could pass for advocating voluntary sterilization. The Darwin Awards if you will.
