The straps or my gorilla head?
It's my understanding recently Mtek has begun selling replacement chin straps. When ordering you have an option of size 1 or 2. If you already have a size two my next option would be trying an extension. They're 10 bux and made offered by TW and OC.
The helmet comes in two sizes but the straps are only available in one size from what I've been told. Either way, I'm already at size 2 so there's no room to move up. It's difficult to explain but a traditional extender won't help since the buckle is already where the chin cup should be. I need more range of adjustment in the straps to bring the chin cup lower/forward.
Mine was too short too. I juggled crown pads around til I got a decent fit. Then installed 4D pads for Perfecto fit.
Same here. I couldn't get my head in with the OEM pads - even with one of the layers removed. Swapped them out for the 4D pads. Literally like a pair of t**s cradling your head. The fit is still very snug but it's manageable so long as the pads aren't cold. Good to know I'm not the only one with a huge melon.
Haven’t had a fitting issue with mine. May have to contact MTEK in regards to it. Good group of guys but they are still working the kinks out of things and are a small business for the work load they have, if enough people have the same problem I’d imagine they will begin making a bigger chin strap. If nothing on that end I believe Spiritus Systems is making the chin straps, they may be able to make you a one off. Both companies have good folks working there, reach out to them and they will help get you sorted.
I talked to the kind folks at MTEK in December. Last I heard, they were working with the vendor on larger/smaller options that would accommodate different head sizes, gas masks, etc. I agree, MTEK is a small business with a very large demand. Thanks for the info on Spiritus. I will try reaching out to them.
