Marathon Watch company just came out with a new white dial watch in 38mm to mimic their Trititum Search and Rescue.  Long Island Watch has them in stock for under 700 bones on a SS bracelet.

They also have the Marathon black anthracite GSAR for right at $1,200.

You could also order a stainless steel bracelet from someplace like Strapcode and  turn the 007 into a dressier diver.

I looked back at the website and see that Ares Watch has a few models in stock now. They are quartz movements but have a pretty badass 10-year life with a lithium battery.  And I’ve found quartz to beat autos in accuracy, if prevcision is a hard requirement for you.

You mentioned the Sangin earlier, so this may fit with your tastes.

It is better that they do it imperfectly than that you do it perfectly. For it is their war and their country and your time here is limited.

I recently got an Ares, and am planning on doing a small review on it in this thread when I have more time on it- but so far I'm very very impressed as far as Quartz's go.

I’ve been looking at the Diver-1 a lot, since it was unveiled last year.  I am waiting on my TSAR after sending it off for a service and battery replacement, so I’m liking the 10-year lithium life.  I’m also due to do an interview with Graham about his motivations for starting Ares and the whole watchmaking knowledge thing.

Gotta find time, between an article about yote assault packs, the Eagle A-III, and a slew of other projects.  If only there were 25 hrs in a day.

I have an RFI of sorts.  I considered a new thread but really don't know where to put it.  What I'm looking for is Nato strap adapters for a G-Shock - model GW-M530A (Solar Atomic).  I've looked at Jaysandkays and reached out to them twice recently but all I'm getting in return is radio silence.  Does anyone know if their standard 16mm  lug adapters to fit a 24mm strap will fit on my model?  My search fu sucks badly and I'm coming up with nothing that shows that any of Jaysandkays products work. I'm also not finding any other brands/suppliers with any useful information.

I did find these but my specific model isn’t listed so e-mail or phone call required.   Thanks for the link.

So mine actually was broken.....I bought used about 10 years ago and it had not been serviced while I had it.

One day I'm winding it like normal and about the 4th revolution it got tight and then all of a sudden broke free.  The second hand started to revolve counter clock wise and after 4 or passes, stopped.......Dead.

The service cost $750 but that included fixing whatever the issue was.

The recommended service was to replace the sapphire and bezel insert....$180 and $60 respectively.  I chose to replace because I thought that price was reasonable.

So long story short.....$1040 to fix and replace those parts.

So, after years of wanting and recently reading here, I got the Seiko. Bought it online from a place in NYC called JOMOSHOP. They had good reviews and have been in business over 30 years, so I felt comfortable ordering. They had a good price, and even with springing for two day shipping it was cheaper than Amazon with no sales tax. Anyhoooo, the fedex man rang the doorbell ten minutes ago. It's 1983 again and the world looms large before me. Now for a pair of Ray Ban aviators and I'll be a complete throwback. Happy birthday to me

Has anyone had recent comms with Subterfuge?

If not, who is the go to shop for working on Seiko 007/009 watches?

As a part of my AGOG project my oldest son ended up with my "Merica Especiale watch that Alex/Subterfuge built for me a few years back. The second hand and hub broke off yesterday.

I had a shit show just trying to get my 007 serviced (was badly off by hour or more)......ended up posting a question on watchuseek and a board member contacted me via PM (college student IIRC) he replaced the movement for me for less than $50...you might try the same....most places that I could send it to otherwise the minimum cost was half way into a new one.

If repair, just get a new movement. For mods Yobokies or Dagaz.

I think I was the last guy from LFer to have a mod done by him.  It took wayyyyyyy longer than I expected.  When it arrived, it stopped working less than a day later.  Something about the rotor snapping off. He took it back and fixed it with a new movement I believe, but the experience was not good.

I think Yokobies will not take a Watch in until he knows he has the time to get it done.

No MO for me, wasn't a fan when they were a thing. I was more of a Bananna Republic  (mail order catalog version) guy.

I just had my G-Shock stop working!!  I thought that never ever happened.  I have been in a primarily desk for for two years, and evidently the G-Shock was offended and quit.  It is about two years old and i am disappointed.  Sad days.
