My father-in-law owns multiple rifles and a handgun in Croatia, but he isn't in good health.  He'd like to give them to my son, his only grandson.  He's a duel citizen, but he will not be traveling to the US anymore.  He can't legally sell them to any of the family because we don't have hunting licenses in Croatia and they are very difficult to get.  We would have  to spend a good amount of time there to get one.  Does anyone have experience with situations like this?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

My dad imported his dads Winchester 1892 from Canada for me about a decade ago. There are a bunch of forms he had to fill out for U.S. Customs that should be available on the CBP website. It ended up being not that difficult but the rifle in question was from 1917 and made in America so that may have played a part in the ease of importation. Jump on the CBP website and see what you can find or ask one of the CBP Officers at your local POE (if you’re near one).
