Owen Submachinegun, February 13, 2017

Just something to get @Linz and @22F to froth at the mouth.

The Australians called it Owen machine carbine gun and used it into the 1960's.  Some 45,000 were built.  It had the notable advantage of having gravity assist the magazine feed and the top mounted magazine meant diggers could get more familiar with the ants and and giant centipedes that inhabit much of the Pacific islands.

"It makes no difference what men think of war," said the Judge.  "War endures. As well ask men what they think of stone.  War was always here. Before man was, war waited for him.  The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner.  That is the way it was and will be.  That way and not some other way.” Cormac McCarthy, "Blood Meridian, or the Evening Redness in the West"

Now we know where the Rhodesians got their 'baby poop green' to paint their FALs.

Just 45,000 made, and used until the '60's?
