I remember awhile back there was a large manufacturer that offered a well built, nice looking assault pack with an optional optic/camera insert. The insert was designed for the pack so they fit together nicely. I believe it was diamondback tactical, but I can’t find any references to that set-up online. Anyone know what I’m talking about? I’m still searching for the optimal photo bag configuration. I’ve tried a couple purpose built bags recently, but I still think I want something I can use as for daily carry at work (AD Army) and while TDY but also add an insert to carry some photogear when I’m on my own time during TDY. I travel for work a lot and I need something dual purpose. I always fly with photo gear, ipad, and issue laptop in my carry-on.
I keep jumping back and forth between my issue assault pack with an insert or a Lowepro something450 or a Hazard4 semi hard shell pack. None of these are exactly what I want for switching between a Canon 5dmkIV + lenses + laptop + iPad + misc stuff + lickies/chewies, etc. and Laptop + water + short duration field shit. I’ve tried a lot of bags for work/photo gear over the years and everything is a compromise. Still trying various configurations. If that diamondback tactical pack with photo insert is still available anywhere I think I’d like to give it try.
