Title says it all. I apologize if this is not the correct forum for this. Saw this on the usual ammo websites at great prices for HPBT. I've had luck with MagTech 556 but 308 is a whole different animal. Anyone have experience?
Not to topic shift but could you share your experience with their 5.56? I'm looking to stock up on some better stuff than the 55gr FMj everyone has
Got their 62 grain and used it for indoor range training. Went through 500 rounds with zero issues. Certainly would not be my first choice for a fighting round, but more than sufficient for drills inside of 50m.
I use their 5.56 and 9mm almost exclusively (or S&B if actual Magtech or preferably MEN is out of stock). I love the stuff. Based on that experience alone, I wouldn't hesitate to give it a shot in .308.
I've shot more than 3K of the S&B 168 HPBT and accuracy is on par with Fed GMM out of my Rem 700 and LMT308MWSE; both use the same Sierra bullet but the S&B chronos about 180fps less than the GMM. I've only shot about 350rds of the CBC 168 (also uses the same Sierra bullet) and I don't find it to be as accurate in my guns as the S&B or GMM, the CBC does chrono as fast or slightly faster than the GMM. Both the S&B/CBC have functioned 100% and I have seen no problems in their use.
I have found the CBC 5.56 77gr Sierra HPBT load to be outstanding load for those who might be interested. My first 3rd group out of my Steyr bolt gun went into 2.25" at 600yds, slight windage correction and my next 5rd group went into 3.75", with 4 in 2". This load is very accurate in all my ARs from 7.5" - 20" barrel length; actually chronos 2150fps out of my 7.5" Saint pistol.
