I just wanted to share my very positive experience with Salomon's customer service department.  Companies with good customer service seem to be few and far between so this was a pleasant surprise.  I bought a pair of Salomons (XA Pro 3D) from a vendor and began to wear them immediately after I received them.  Within the first two weeks I noticed that a stich on the toe box had popped and the thread was starting to back out leaving a very small gap between the two pieces of material.  I knew this would only get worse over time so I emailed Salomon to tell them what was going on.  Within MINUTES I received a reply back asking for pictures of the defect and proof of purchase (copy of receipt).  I replied with the required information and the very next day I received a response with a message that my warranty claim was approved and they wanted to see the shoes in person to see if it was a one off problem or possibly a bad batch.  They asked me to send them a list of three models of shoes that I would accept in replacement in case they no longer had my specific shoe in stock.  I replied with the same shoe, the GoreTex version of the shoe I had, and another model.  The next day I received a shipping notice and the new boots were delivered via UPS a couple days later.  I was sent the GoreTex version of the boots that I had originally.  I have never heard of a company upgrading someone to a more expensive product like this.  I was amazed at not only the speed of the customer service department, but also the ease of the entire process.  They were outstanding to deal with and they make a great product.

Comparitively speaking, how are those GTX XA Pro’s?  Are they warmer or breathe less than the non-GTX ones?  I have to typically shy away from GTX footwear unless it’s in the single digits. Othrwise, my feet will turn in to stank swamps...

Yes, in my opinion they are slightly warmer and breathe less than the non-GTX. They aren’t as warm as other GTX shoes I’ve had in the past but you can tell a difference between the two pairs. I haven’t worn them on a scorcher yet but they’ve never been uncomfortably warm thus far.

They have become my favorite boot... so much so that I wear one pair, and keep two unworn pairs in boxes in my closet... just in case they stop making them (a habit I’ve unfortunately acquired from buying Nike running shoes... they change/discontinue models something like once a week)
