So as I have progressed I have moved away from chest rigs and plate carriers (not in the combat business anymore) and work strictly from a war belt.

I use a Crye MRB with multiple BFG pouches. I prefer the 10 speeds as I can quickly and easily change between pistol pouches and rifle pouches or both depending on the class/range session. I also use a BFG/Mayflower dump pouch at class but ditch it when not at a high round count class.

I recently picked up the new BFG micro trauma kit and mounted directly at the 6 and found that I can access it with either hand easily without removing the belt. Carry one CAT in a BFG MP7 pouch.

As for my holster I primarily use a 6354DO on a QMS attachment. The belt itself is extremely comfortable on the range for 12-14 hours at a time and is slim enough that I can ride in a vehicle without discomfort or ease of movement.

All this stuff is brand new out of the package and replaces the stuff I got from RFI, so I am still trying to figure out how I want to set it up...Looking for any input from the experts on here.

Glad to see this thread come back to life.

I take it the KDH plate carrier is something you have to use per your command? No worries. It'll do.

So if there's anything I'd move around it's the radio and IFAK and I'd slide them both up towards your front. You should be able to access and troubleshoot your own comms and ideally you should be able to access your IFAK with either hand. The TCI MAST kit will let you have your radio up front and the antenna out of the way.

Yours is one of the first posts of this type where I'd actually suggest adding things to your setup instead of stripping it down.

First, you need at least one easy access tourniquet near your center line. The new-issue TQ pouches are actually OK and you've got a spot for one to mount horizontally on your chest. Alternatively, you could wear one on each side adjacent to the three-mag pouch on the front.

Second, do you have smoke and frag grenades available? I'm a fan of both. I like options.

Does your unit mandate that team leaders carry the M320?

Hopefully this isn't a stupid question, but is this particular thread only for loadouts we've deployed with?  Old soldier here and I didn't deploy with anything close to TT chest rig I have today, or the one I built for my SPR.  Built as a civilian.  I think it's solid kit.  I did have quite a bit of help from a SOCM buddy, with the layout, pouches etc.  Spent a lot of time talking to him, learning etc.  then training with it.  But if this isn't the place to share that, then cool. Just thought I'd ask first. (One of the rare time I ask permission rather than forgiveness. But too much respect on here for  those who have BTDT with their kit for me to just jump in.)  I'm asking also because the majority of weapons, if not all are issue, M4's and  breaching shotguns.  Now that I'm saying this, it seems kind of obvious, but I'll let my question stand.

Thanks

I certainly don't make the rules here but within the Stud Board sub forum is a thread "Show your Class/Personal Preparedness Loadout" thread, that would be a good place to show what you've got if you're not sure you should post it in this thread.

Thanks Mojo.  I think that's exactly where I should post my gear.   I appreciate the info.

Is the G.33 magnifier issued?

I am an 11B in RC-E currently and have some time to not only wash and clean my kit (finally) but also get some mail and new pouches I ordered a while ago.

Like I said in my Intro Post, I am new to the concept of purchasing your own kit. New command has zero problem with it as long as it doesn't cause any problems.

JK are the optics on your M4 issued?  The both look brand new.  I was under the impression that ACOG or M4S's were being issued.

Been working on a gear update from ACU to MultiCam. Worn this over a couple FTXs and Ranges so far, plus personal training. Patching a few more holes before an upcoming deployment.

I'm an MP, so I spend most my time mounted, but past deployments have come with a lot of dismounted work while attached to manuever elements as well. I'm no HSLD, but I value quality gear.

I think it is pretty much exactly where I want it.

I do intend on snagging a Mayflower Gen IV chest rig in case my command climate changes and I have to back to the issued armor.

Only thing I still need to add to the PC is the soft armor carrier and side plate carrier. I absolutely love this setup. No snags, streamlined. I look back on my deployment in an interceptor with full DAPS/choke collar/nut protector and curse how difficult it was to do anything in all that shit. (Don't even get me started about having gunners wearing the bottom half of EOD suits in the gun.)

PC:

  • Crye JPC v1
  • JPC MBITR Radio Pouch Set: Left Side: MBITR/Right Side: 2X Mags
  • TT Accessory Pouch 1V: Flashlight, Multitool, Notepad, Pens, Compass, Batteries
  • ATS Small Upright GP Pouch: PVS-14s
  • TT Fight Light Smoke Pouch: Smoke Grenade
  • Twin Needle MiniMAP: 2L Hydration + Stripped MRE + Batteries.
  • 2X TT Frag Pouch (Not shown)

Belt:

  • Velocity Systems Operator Utility Belt (OUB)
  • ATS War Belt Insert Belt
  • Generic Double Mag Pouch (Going to replace with a LBT Double Mag/40mm pouch or similar.)
  • HSGI Taco M4
  • HSGI Bleeder Pouch
  • Velocity Systems Helium Whisper Micro Diddie Pouch
  • Custom Horizontal TQ Pouch, Jason Crosby Special
  • Safariland M9 Mid-Ride Holster with Leg Strap for stabilization.

Not Shown:
TT 40mm Bandolier - I like being able to hand off the M320 when required with all ammo.

Welcome to the forum, this kinda stuff is why this place was so helpful to me and others when I was in your shoes. Boots. Whatever.

Setting up your kit is a personal thing, and usually takes a lot of experimenting and moving stuff around. It's pretty normal to set it up one way and by the end of the deployment have something completely different.  You might want to look back at older posts to get ideas for how others have set up their shit. The search function helps too. Because of the current GWOT optempo, this thread isn't as knee deep in updates as it used to be.

Why is your IFAK so far to the rear? You've got a pretty minimalist set up, so there's not much to say (that's not a bad thing).

Your weapon is another thing. I'd ditch the KAC VFG for something like a Tango Down stubby. Way more durable and comfortable. And an aftermarket buttstock with a better cheek weld and a rubber buttpad (sticks to your shoulder / armor and doesn't slip off as easily). I use a B5 SOPMOD but MagPul makes a bunch of others too.

I'm also curious on your optics, is that set up issued? I dunno what your average mission and AO dictate but I thought my ACOG was tits out there (for longer shots, RE, and PID).

A lot of guys like stocks without the improved cheek weld for their low profile.  Some people find the smaller stocks are more comfortable with Peltors and easier to get shoulder purchase with.

Joe, doesn't seem like you'll disclose who made your belt but would you tell use what features you took from each belt to make yours better?

Atlas G hook on inner belt so it's super flat, 1.75 inch belt height with super thin double row MOLLE , flat cobra buckle (can't remember the manufacturer) so there's less bulk when bending and such...the best features are the super flat-ness (is that a word?) of the belt...I use this one mainly for range stuff, my other belt is a traditional inner/outer with a VelSys operator belt as the load carrier for the tons of stuff on there...

Flatness is definitely a word.  It’s a property of machined parts I measure everyday. The word of course can be used in reference to other things not machining related like your belt.  Enough of my work geekdom. Too early for that.
