So as I have progressed I have moved away from chest rigs and plate carriers (not in the combat business anymore) and work strictly from a war belt.

I use a Crye MRB with multiple BFG pouches. I prefer the 10 speeds as I can quickly and easily change between pistol pouches and rifle pouches or both depending on the class/range session. I also use a BFG/Mayflower dump pouch at class but ditch it when not at a high round count class.

I recently picked up the new BFG micro trauma kit and mounted directly at the 6 and found that I can access it with either hand easily without removing the belt. Carry one CAT in a BFG MP7 pouch.

As for my holster I primarily use a 6354DO on a QMS attachment. The belt itself is extremely comfortable on the range for 12-14 hours at a time and is slim enough that I can ride in a vehicle without discomfort or ease of movement.

Glad to see this thread come back to life.

I take it the KDH plate carrier is something you have to use per your command? No worries. It'll do.

So if there's anything I'd move around it's the radio and IFAK and I'd slide them both up towards your front. You should be able to access and troubleshoot your own comms and ideally you should be able to access your IFAK with either hand. The TCI MAST kit will let you have your radio up front and the antenna out of the way.

Yours is one of the first posts of this type where I'd actually suggest adding things to your setup instead of stripping it down.

First, you need at least one easy access tourniquet near your center line. The new-issue TQ pouches are actually OK and you've got a spot for one to mount horizontally on your chest. Alternatively, you could wear one on each side adjacent to the three-mag pouch on the front.

Second, do you have smoke and frag grenades available? I'm a fan of both. I like options.

Does your unit mandate that team leaders carry the M320?

Hopefully this isn't a stupid question, but is this particular thread only for loadouts we've deployed with?  Old soldier here and I didn't deploy with anything close to TT chest rig I have today, or the one I built for my SPR.  Built as a civilian.  I think it's solid kit.  I did have quite a bit of help from a SOCM buddy, with the layout, pouches etc.  Spent a lot of time talking to him, learning etc.  then training with it.  But if this isn't the place to share that, then cool. Just thought I'd ask first. (One of the rare time I ask permission rather than forgiveness. But too much respect on here for  those who have BTDT with their kit for me to just jump in.)  I'm asking also because the majority of weapons, if not all are issue, M4's and  breaching shotguns.  Now that I'm saying this, it seems kind of obvious, but I'll let my question stand.

Thanks

I certainly don't make the rules here but within the Stud Board sub forum is a thread "Show your Class/Personal Preparedness Loadout" thread, that would be a good place to show what you've got if you're not sure you should post it in this thread.

Thanks Mojo.  I think that's exactly where I should post my gear.   I appreciate the info.

I am an 11B in RC-E currently and have some time to not only wash and clean my kit (finally) but also get some mail and new pouches I ordered a while ago.

Like I said in my Intro Post, I am new to the concept of purchasing your own kit. New command has zero problem with it as long as it doesn't cause any problems.

JK are the optics on your M4 issued?  The both look brand new.  I was under the impression that ACOG or M4S's were being issued.

Been working on a gear update from ACU to MultiCam. Worn this over a couple FTXs and Ranges so far, plus personal training. Patching a few more holes before an upcoming deployment.

I'm an MP, so I spend most my time mounted, but past deployments have come with a lot of dismounted work while attached to manuever elements as well. I'm no HSLD, but I value quality gear.

I think it is pretty much exactly where I want it.

I do intend on snagging a Mayflower Gen IV chest rig in case my command climate changes and I have to back to the issued armor.

Only thing I still need to add to the PC is the soft armor carrier and side plate carrier. I absolutely love this setup. No snags, streamlined. I look back on my deployment in an interceptor with full DAPS/choke collar/nut protector and curse how difficult it was to do anything in all that shit. (Don't even get me started about having gunners wearing the bottom half of EOD suits in the gun.)

PC:

  • Crye JPC v1
  • JPC MBITR Radio Pouch Set: Left Side: MBITR/Right Side: 2X Mags
  • TT Accessory Pouch 1V: Flashlight, Multitool, Notepad, Pens, Compass, Batteries
  • ATS Small Upright GP Pouch: PVS-14s
  • TT Fight Light Smoke Pouch: Smoke Grenade
  • Twin Needle MiniMAP: 2L Hydration + Stripped MRE + Batteries.
  • 2X TT Frag Pouch (Not shown)

Belt:

  • Velocity Systems Operator Utility Belt (OUB)
  • ATS War Belt Insert Belt
  • Generic Double Mag Pouch (Going to replace with a LBT Double Mag/40mm pouch or similar.)
  • HSGI Taco M4
  • HSGI Bleeder Pouch
  • Velocity Systems Helium Whisper Micro Diddie Pouch
  • Custom Horizontal TQ Pouch, Jason Crosby Special
  • Safariland M9 Mid-Ride Holster with Leg Strap for stabilization.

Not Shown:
TT 40mm Bandolier - I like being able to hand off the M320 when required with all ammo.

Welcome to the forum, this kinda stuff is why this place was so helpful to me and others when I was in your shoes. Boots. Whatever.

Setting up your kit is a personal thing, and usually takes a lot of experimenting and moving stuff around. It's pretty normal to set it up one way and by the end of the deployment have something completely different.  You might want to look back at older posts to get ideas for how others have set up their shit. The search function helps too. Because of the current GWOT optempo, this thread isn't as knee deep in updates as it used to be.

Why is your IFAK so far to the rear? You've got a pretty minimalist set up, so there's not much to say (that's not a bad thing).

Your weapon is another thing. I'd ditch the KAC VFG for something like a Tango Down stubby. Way more durable and comfortable. And an aftermarket buttstock with a better cheek weld and a rubber buttpad (sticks to your shoulder / armor and doesn't slip off as easily). I use a B5 SOPMOD but MagPul makes a bunch of others too.

I'm also curious on your optics, is that set up issued? I dunno what your average mission and AO dictate but I thought my ACOG was tits out there (for longer shots, RE, and PID).

A lot of guys like stocks without the improved cheek weld for their low profile.  Some people find the smaller stocks are more comfortable with Peltors and easier to get shoulder purchase with.

Atlas G hook on inner belt so it's super flat, 1.75 inch belt height with super thin double row MOLLE , flat cobra buckle (can't remember the manufacturer) so there's less bulk when bending and such...the best features are the super flat-ness (is that a word?) of the belt...I use this one mainly for range stuff, my other belt is a traditional inner/outer with a VelSys operator belt as the load carrier for the tons of stuff on there...

Flatness is definitely a word.  It’s a property of machined parts I measure everyday. The word of course can be used in reference to other things not machining related like your belt.  Enough of my work geekdom. Too early for that.

I was issued the standard army kit but that stayed in a bag minus the plates.  The ARHPC has dynemma in it so I was okay with that.

My kit is now at home I have level 4 LTC icw plates with MSA dyneema plate backers.

I was going to go with my Safariland plates i. Here but try ride a Stand alone plate carrier I’m still getting use to (i should Have bought the Velocity Systems from op Tactical but bought another brand because of the SKD retards i had I’m my unit)

Plate Carrier is a MSA Paraclete Advance Releasable plate carrier. This is my last one.  Have another one in 2010-2011 deployment but there is now a hole in it from being shot.  It was in UCP and MSA sent me a new one in Multicam and new plate backers for sending them in my story.  I have No holes in me that god did not put there.

On the carrier I have:

3 Tactical Tailor fightlite M4 pouches

1 Paraclete two mag pouch

1 blue force gear IFAK pouch compete and inside there was my is my old boyscout knife.  Helps having a bottle opener when Brits offer you a beer after a mission.  The knife has been with me on all deployments.

I did have a Radio pouch on the other side but it was issued with my Radio so in the states I have left it free  the issued pouch for the PRC is not bad.

Had a hydration carrier tactical tailor I think. Used issue hydration pouch tossed in there and used it when needed.  Coolers are a plus.

Blue force gear SOC belt.  Have two of these and an ATS.  I have No issues riding either with my gear.

Blue force gear booboo pouch, also holds dip and gum and chapstick.

Eagle pistol pouch for an old price of kit this replace the issued pistol pouch from the riflesmans kit.  Held my leatherman.

Safariland ALS for a Glock 19.  Have the same holster for a M9.

SOG(?) slim IFAK pouch on the belt not as much as the BFG but was handy.  Also kept 4 CR123s in there for my Surefires m952 and peq15.

Tactical tailor fightlite roll up dump pouch

two-x HSGI M4 and pistol pouch.

I was issued a Beretta 92 and when I got to theater i was issued a beat up gen3 Glock 19 if I wanted it. I carried a Glock 19 with metal basically dead night sights all over SWA this deployment, Iraq, Syria, Kuwait, and a few other countries I was advising in.  Ran 2 Glock 17 mags on the carrier and 2 Glock 17 mags in the belt, these were standard Glock mags in black.  Ended up running a Glock 19 mag in the gun and had three Glock 19 mags in a suit or under a uniform holster was Kydex with two loops, it had a lot of miles on it.

Ammo I’m 9mm: m882 and Federal 9ms.

Rifle on this go was a FN made M4A1.  Had an option and took it for a month and carried a SCAR17 for a little bit but being the only asswipe carrying the rifle and i carried The radio to call in the strikes I went back With the M4A1.  Picture of the M4A1 is when i was Issued it in the states.

Mags for the SCAR were Scar mags.

Mags for the M4 was Magpul m3 brought 10, and the rest were USGI.  Whatever I could get.

Ammo M855/ss109 and mk262.  Didn’t see any m318 or m855a1 but I was not with only US forces over there.  Don’t know if that was a difference but all the ASPs had m855.  I also Ran more than just US made SS109 but that’s because of training Iraqis. I’m an equal opportunity when it comes to Ammo.

I will Tell you the Ammo and mags for the M4s we fell in on in one country were Green follower mags  and foreign made HK416s select-fire  with eotechs 552s.  That’s a whole other WTF.

Hat well I had haji make me a lightfighterish hat because reasons.  I own two official hats but this was done pretty well and I like green.

Gloves were Wiley-X flight gloves or OD Green flight gloves.

Uniform is a FRAC-Us of course.

Danner Rivot TFX boots

Suits Custom made in Kuwait. Along with a pair of Italian dress shoes.  Belt was a bull leather indestructible belt.

lets see what else, nothing else comes to mind.

Found a Karrimor PLC(name) British Desert pattern pack that i brought Back good pack.  Made people think i was British at times.

I ordered the side things this year because well it’s cool and why Multicam well the year were on clearance sale 60% off.  Thought about getting the same pack in Multicam or CB but i have this already.

Took my tactical tailor flight lite pack worked well (see a pattern Tactical Tailor stuff)

internals were batteries, iPad, radio, charger, a pos solar charger charged sometimes.  Luckiest, Chewies and sniffle gear.  Also a flask or two from the green zone or some embassy.

Yes I did carry the the Ruger pepper spray on me.  Helps when trying to stab a guy.  Oh also had my Benchmade Auto Stryker on me.

How tall is your war belt? Did you have issues accessing your war belt pouches when you were wearing your chest rig/pc?  Asking because I ended up changing my GP pouch that was riding above my pistol because the pouch was too deep and jacked with my draw stroke.  I picked up a RTI optimal drop mount for my pistol which doesn't drop it but about 1.5-2", but then replaced the TT GP pouch with a TT multipurpose and mounted a Marz admin pouch on a TT double mag shingle to get all my "stuff" that was in that Tactical Tailor GP pouch.

Thx
