Gents - Two part question here:

I would like to stock up on some 9mm and 7.62x39 ammo before November, probably 5K of both.  In the past I have used LuckyGunner.com when things are on sale or used Ammoseek.com to find some good deals.  I have looked at Able ammo, Widener's, SGAmmo , and a couple of others.  I think the days of really good deals are gone for a bit, but where you are guys finding decent pricing on cases of ammo?

Secondly, I have almost exclusively used American Eagle for 9mm.  I know Pat recommended Magtech, what are the other acceptable ammo makers?  I've not been real impressed with Speer, Blazer, or CCI in 9mm.  I know PMC is ok, but dirty.  I see a lot of Freedom Arms or Liberty stuff.  I'm assuming it is remanufactured just based on price.

So what say thee Lightfighter?

I've been running Geco 124 gr for 9mm. Geco is like the cheap training brand under RUAG I believe, or at least they're somehow associated with them. I've run at least 5000 rounds of it through my Glock in the past year or so. No problems that I can think of. Decently clean, brass cased, and I can usually find it in the neighborhood of 20 cents a round.

I can't help you on the x39. I like LuckyGunner because they ship out fast and they're relatively close to me, so when I need ammo fast for a course that popped up, I go to them. If I have time, I shop around. I usually use ammoseek for that.

Hope this helps some.

A note on the Geco. The internet says some of it isn't good. They have multiple factories in different European countries. The internet gun experts say one countries isn't that good. Can't remember which one, and I think I've used ammo from all the factories with no problem, so this may be a moot point.

So you saw the debate too.   Wise man.

I've been using SG Ammo for a few years and have been very happy.  Decent prices and fast shipping.

They have a few different brands of 9mm around $200/k.  I have used Magtech in the past with good results as well as Blazer Brass (Glocks and Sigs without any problem).  I just bought a case of Prvi but haven't shot any of it.

I've used Geco in .380 and it's been ok, but sample size of <1000 rounds.

Palmetto State Armory is usually around the same if not somewhat better in price, but good grief they're slow.

I've been buying either 2 cases of  Magtech or PPU from SGammo every month for the past several months. Magtech last time was 199.90 per case plus 26 shipping for both and the PPU was 204.90 per case with the same amount for shipping, both run good in all of my 9mm's. It seems to me to be the best deal going and the ammo is typically here in NC 72 hours later. I've also been picking up the Aguila 124 gn 9mm from one of my buddies stores here in Jacksonville when he has it by the case for appox 230.00 out the door as it seems to work pretty well for me as well as range fodder. I haven't bought any for awhile but it appears that SGammo has some pretty good deals going on all the other calibers as well, been concentrating on getting in 12k of 9mm and the last two cases of that are on the way as I type so now I'm turning to the 45ACP and .38spl  to get that built up as I'm currently planning on next year being the year of the pistol hopefully, political conditions allowing.......wait......well shit..... off to buy more ammo again now.........

I've been shooting Freedom Munitions reman 9mm and .223 for the last few years and am very happy with both. Never had any ammo-related malfunctions, and the .223 is noticeably more accurate than any other blaster-grade ammo I've shot. (2-3" groups at 100m rather than 3-4" like PMC/M855.)

The free shipping specials are nice too.

I too, have used LuckyGunner in purchasing bulk ammo and had no problems with them. They were especially helpful when ammo was running short and hard to get. During that time they proved to still be reasonable and got me what I needed for several schools I was doing. They do ship quickly and that was another nice feature l liked in dealing with them.  If you stay up with them, they have specials running every now and then and you can get even better deals if you watch out  for them. One other thing I liked is some of the ammo testing they did and their evaluation reports on it. I'm not saying they are the cheapest, but they are competitive and reasonable and I like their customer service. I personally, have had no problems with them.

I buy all my ammo from SG Ammo; great prices, fast shipping.

My experience with Freedom Munitions is similar to Rat's.  I've fired a number of their 9mm, .40, .223, and 5.56 offerings without issue.  Almost daily something is 5% discounted and they'll often have free shipping.  Their shipping flash-to-bang leaves something to be desired... and sometimes what you want is out of stock.  But when it's in, they'll sell you a pallet full if you've got the $.

I don't recall them selling any x39, though.

That's awesome guys!  Thanks.  I'm working right now so I'll be doing some browsing as I can, then dropping some money tomorrow.

My priority is 5K of 9 and 7.62x39, then a couple thousand of .38, .45, and probably some esoteric calibers for the older C&R guns.  I'm good for now on .223/5.56, .40, and .22.  I'm not panic buying, just stocking up like I should have been all summer.

I appreciate all the input.

Another vote for SG ammo.  I can almost hit their warehouse with a rifle shot from here.  But I wouldn't.  They have way more ammo than I do.

I don't know what issues you have had with Speer, but their Lawman stuff is one of the standards in new manufacture ammo, and it is competitive with other quality offerings.

SGA is the heat, and TS USA is my backup plan.  I've been using Magtech and Lawman 115 for a bit, but I'm looking at dropping a comp on my 19, so I may be transitioning to a 124 gr round.

I don't shoot soviet guns, so can't help there.

I've been using Freedom Munitions for training ammo with no issues for a couple of years now. SGAmmo is my go to for 147 gr. HST. They always seem to have between 50 and 100 boxes of 50 round count standard pressure and +P in stock for about $25/box

Everybody says they love Freedom munitions, and I used to as well but then,

I had multiple bullets( sourced from different cases of ammo purchased) stuck in the bore of a glock 41 and springer MC operator from their  "new" manufacture 45 ACP and neither I nor PAT could get two of my BCM ARs to group at the 50 during a Carbine refresher class at EVTC during zero using freedom .223 , loaded up some Hornady steel case training rounds Pat had in the deathstar and boom -instant cloverleaf little group.

The price might be right and prior to the Newtown panic I had ordered 10k of their .223 blaster ( its nice to be deployed for a year with no bills to speak of....) but now that its gone I won't buy anymore of it,I just don't have anymore trust in their QC processes or lack thereof.

YMMV....

Dan - I was using the 147 gr Speer Lawman ball rounds.  I could not get those to group out of my G17 with RDS.  147 gr American Eagle on the other hand was fantastic out of the same gun.  Now bear in mind that is a sample of exactly 1, however out of MY gun it was bad enough to turn me off of it, especially if I can get AE for similar costs.  I'm not saying it is bad ammo, I was just not impressed with the accuracy past 25yds.  Would I have the same complaint for regular iron sights?  Not sure.

I usually hit the search engines at slickguns.com, wikiarms, or gun-deals.com to search for the cheapest brass-cased name-brand ammo I can find.

Bonus points if it comes in its own ammo can... it's just easier to store that way, and those ammo cans are handy for other things too.

SGAmmo is my first choice. They use a real time inventory system, so if it shows that it is in stock, you can believe it.  In most cases, they ship the same day  and that is hard to beat.  Shipping prices are fair, but not free.

I just dropped a couple grand at SGAmmo after reading this thread. (Thanks a lot bitches!) I'll update the thread when the stuff arrives. My price shopping over the last couple weeks hasn't shown a huge disparity for the common calibers. The biggest problem I was having in my searches was finding everything in stock from one or two places so I could save on shipping.

If you're buying a shit ton of ammo finding free shipping might be worth the extra cost. My shipping was about $150 for the order I just placed.

Fuck those fucking fucks. It took those assholes three weeks to ship me "in stock" ammo. I think I got it the day before the class I needed it for. Multiple people there kept insisting it was in stock and going out the next day. One person even came back from putting me on hold and said they personally checked and it was packed up and ready to go out the next morning. Finally some lady came clean and admitted that not only did they not have it, but they never did. She said that just because their system says something is in stock it doesn't mean they are actually in possession of it. She said they place orders from the distributors at the beginning of the year and they get an expected ship date then.  So if it's close to the date they expect to get it from the distributors they go ahead and show it as in stock.

I ordered from there because they had a good sale on some bulk Lawman and some people on another forum had ordered from them. I should have done a little research first because they are know to be useless assholes. Their Facebook page is hammered with bad reviews and I found a lot more in other places. It's taken some people months of bullshit to get either their ammo or a refund.

I'm glad you've had good luck with them and I get the shipping to MA issue, but don't be surprised when you get screwed by those lying, clownshoes wearing fucks.

Oh, and another +1 for SGAmmo. They are first rate.

My Go-To sources for ammo have been Ammunition Depot, LAX Ammo, and Cabela's of all places - Herter's, which I believe is Cabela's house brand, 9mm has been good to me. Tactical Defense Solutions has been my go-to source for 124gr Federal HST in boxes of 50 rounds for around $25 or so a box.

I'm interested in more about the Herter's. It's Czech, I believe, and I was not impressed with the .30-30 I bought. If other calibers are performing, that would be a plus at their prices.

I've been really pleased with http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/ and https://www.natchezss.com/

I ordered a case of Speer Gold Dots and like 5 cases of Lawman (both 125gr 124 gr 9mm) from Target Sports USA but, while they did indeed deliver, I caught wind that their company and/or owner may have had a less than attractive history.

I'm likely to be placing another order with them soon, so we'll see. ETA: 9mm is 124gr, real 9mm is 125gr, which I've got on my brain because its what I'm shopping for. (.357Sig)

I've had good luck with Target Sports USA, 15+orders since early 2014, almost all case lots (9,  .45 & 5.56, some .22LR when it was hard to find) and all with inclusive shipping.  Prompt confirmation of order, notice of shipping and arrival when expected.  Got a 2K order in process, will advise if it is not like the above.

J&G Sales in Prescott, AZ has been good as well, mostly as a brick and mortar store when in the area, but I have had .45 and 5.56 shipped, reasonable as its only about 100 from me.  I've put thousands of S&B ammo down range without any issues.

YMMV

J&G Sales is good-to-go.  They've leaned forward for me in the past.

I was short of ammo for a course one time  (NTOA conference), and didn't have time to have it shipped to my home.  We actually worked it out where they shipped the ammo on ahead of me, and it was waiting for me when I got to the conference.    You don't always find that kind of flexibility.

My order from SGAmmo shipped and has delivery confirmation for tomorrow. So far the experience matches my previous orders and I'd give them a big thumbs up for in-stock ammo at competitive prices, without drama.

If my shit shows up short tomorrow or the order is fucked up I'll come back here and recant everything!

I have been on the more ammo or more pistol mag diet.  Big issue is just got orders for another safari so my money is tied up in making sure my wife will not have to worry projects.

I do want to get 1000 more 5.56 or 1000 more 9mm the decisions or get more .22lr for the sig522

I hate these threads because I never think I have enough.

You don't, neither do I, and most likely everyone here. Ammo is like money, good cigars and scotch, one can never have too much on hand.
