Been thinking lately that we have the Where to Get Stuff thread for roll your own, that the holiday deal threads go well, but there's no equivalent the rest of the time for firearms parts and accessories. Not stuff YOU are selling, but stuff you see a deal on, or when you have a problem finding a good part.

It's not carbine specific, but since most serious-armed-guy customizing is to the AR platform, why not start here. DO delete, move, or just tell me to fuck off if this is wrong, bad, evil or there's a thread/section I don't understand how to use right elsewhere.

Also, because I found something I think is cool, do not want to keep to myself. Someone on another forum bought a couple cases of these lovely, green anodized receiver extensions when Colt decided to stop making some guns which used them. Selling them for $42 apiece.

Shown with a Giselle rail and CTR for color comparison.

I thought, so trustworthy a part, and so so pretty that I bought one just to keep on hand for when I have a project that deserves it. It's on the SH sale thread or just email him quaal.at.ease@chemist.com.

Hmm, have 2 lowers i'm putting together and these would work nicely.

I can write your friend, but do you know if these are milspec or commercial-sized extensions?

Not my friend per se. and I do not have mine in hand so not 100% sure but bought on the belief they are milspec. Threads even look proud on the photo so I am pretty confident.

Mine arrived already. Tube measures 1.146 (+/-) to my calipers, and otherwise seems to be 100% to the milspec standard. Also: so pretty.

Mil-Spec is - 1.148 I believe. Most places I’ve seen round that up to 1.15.

Standard default tolerance for 3 place decimal dimensions is  +/- .005. In this case it could be a tighter tolerance of +/-.002. So you’re in there in either case.

I see these come up sometimes, and wonder about them:

DEAL OF THE YEAR !!!
COLT M16A1 GI PARTS KITS
ORIGINAL COLT PARTS FROM WAR SERVICE GUNS

Finally obtained a limited batch of Original Colt M16A1 Part Sets. Sight assembly and barrel parts were carefully stripped as barrels are prohibited from import by ATF regulations. All parts are original Colt mfg. Parts are generally in very good shape, but show wear and slight blemishes from 50 years of storage. All parts included except barrel, barrel extension, lower receiver and magazine. Upper receiver and bolt carriers are assembled. This is like being thrown back in time to the Vietnam era. Gotta move quickly on these as we have fewer than 100 in the best category!

Original Colt M16A1 parts kit made in the 1980’s. Each kit features the triangular handguard, the teardrop forward assist and original bolt carrier group. Each kit comes with all parts including 1 x 30rd magazine (if legal - minus $10 if removed). All you need to complete your rifle build is a barrel and a stripped lower receiver. This is the only chance to get original vintage Colt kits. The conditions range from good to very good.

Barrel, and Lower Receiver - not included. Front sight assembly is in kit.

Colt military contract (not sure who, but not US as import restrictions) parts kits minus barrel, receiver and (though not stated) I bet auto sear. Presumably stellar parts when new but... not new. Since barrel is not part of it, assuming you replaced all springs, how much wear do the fire control bits and the BC assembly accumulate in a typical 30 year old service rifle?

Not sure it's worth $600, esp for those not excited about fixed FSB/carry handle guns.

For those of you of the 1911 persuasion, CMC has taken 20% off most (all?) of their Powermags:

I bought three of those Colt receiver extensions from him - two OD green and one FDE. I bought a third OD green off of Gunbroker before I saw his sale post. They are MILSPEC Colt tubes. The green is really nice, but the color varies a bit from one to the next, as I understand anodizing tends to do. The FDE is pretty hideous - sort of a reddish brown thst doesn’t look much like any FDE I’ve ever seen.

I know some people are interested in M16A4s. I got one of this surplus FN uppers a couple months ago:

https://www.oowinc.com/product/fn-m16a4-upper-nos/

It appears to be fairly recent production, maybe within the last five years. I haven’t checked the date on the barrel yet, but it has the FN cage code on the barrel.

Was surprised in (some thread!) to find that old school AR style parts kits are hard to find. So, posting these two complete actual issue (to who?) early 70s uppers for sale:

Colt 603: https://www.apexgunparts.com/rifles/ar-15/colt-603-late-upper-receiver-assy-20barrel-a1-flash-hider-72-74-w-sling-swivel-fair.html

Colt 604: https://www.apexgunparts.com/rifles/ar-15/colt-604-early-upper-receiver-assy-20barrel-a1-flash-hider-69-71-fair.html

They are pretty proud of them. But if you really want an old school gun, these seem pretty cool...

Want to build a semi-auto, or a dummy STEN or Sterling Mk5?
Parts kits at Apex are almost 1990s prices now. Unheard of low prices for kits these days (+/- $200!). Maybe worth checking out, soon, if you ever wanted one.

Some other parts, and mags, are also available for reasonable enough prices.

If watching the Hollywood thread, and you missed out on the eBay Mattel Marauder so thinking you need a VN era actual 5.56 gun... I can't help you. But Sarco has a new batch of the 80s era Colt mil contract M16A1s, complete but for barrel and lower it seems, and cheaper than before $459 plus, presumably, shipping.

Lanbos Armory.

Cheapest prices for Magpul parts, PMAGS, Sig/HK magazines, Raptor Charging Handles etc.  Their prices for the regular consumer are ridiculous and almost dealer level.

I will shop around, but always compare to see what Lanbo is charging. They are usually cheaper (unless another company is running a major Holiday sale).

Botach has been running a glock mag sale @ 16.98 for a week now.

Both regular capacity and less-scary capacity.

That's a great price - the only issue is that you have to order from Botach to get it.  They seem to have cut back on their habitual shenanigans (charging credit cards for items that aren't in stock and taking weeks or months to ship), but they seem to still have some questionable practices.  A guy on ARFCOM orders some Okay magazines from them that were listed as being in stock, but after waiting a week or two for them to ship, he called and talked to a Botach rep to said that they listed them as in stock because they had a shipment on the way from Okay, but they weren't sure when it would arrive.   Other people report trying to cancel orders that took weeks to ship, or receiving wrong items, and never being able to get their money back after they were charged up front.  I used to be ok with rolling the dice with them - I've ordered three times in the past two years without issues, other than my order taking about two weeks to arrive.  Now that they've stopped offering free shipping and have added sales tax to all orders (regardless of state internet sales tax laws), I'm not sure it's worth it.

I placed an order for three Glock mags from CDNN on Sep 8 for $59.97 + $3.99 shipping = $63.96.  It shipped on Sep 9 and arrived Sep 11.  The same three mags from Botach is $50.94 + $3.39 tax + $5.56 value shipping = $59.89.  I placed an order (for different mags) with Botach on Sep 11, received a shipping notice on Sep 12, and the tracking still says "Shipping label created" and "Pending."  The last time I ordered, I believe it sat in that status for 10 days.

I've not had any issue with Botach, but thats a sample size of one.

Email special from Midway today, 10 pack of pmags for 99$ today.

If Botach lists a quantity in stock, they have it.  If they don't its a drop ship from the mfg.  I have had good luck with the former.  I wish you good luck with the latter.

“They were two douchebags who met in the normal course of being two douchebags.” - Sully, Third Watch

Since someone else said it first, I have been buying successfully from Botach since the early days, before I knew not to trust them. I was one of the few with large quantities of good quality 123s back when 60 L was way too bright, because I would do the Botach "group buy" deals. If you read close, they'd admit that the big purchases at great prices were not in stock, and you'd get it a month or three later. Worth it for e.g. 24 packs of batteries at 1/4 retail.

For not-directly-gun stuff (e.g. not magazines) they are now on Amazon, with the same prices, so if worried order there and then complain to Amazon if it fails, is a knockoff, etc.
