Where to get stuff

Just another BIG Thumbs Up for Mike and his better half at DIY tactical.

I had a shipping situation and DIY addressed the situation right away and resent the items out to replace the lost articles the same day.

Solid customer service and an excellent variety of material for all the Do It Yourself'ers.

Hi Folks, I'm new here, so please be gentle.

It's been asked before but I can't see an affirative answer.

Anyone know where to get lightweight silicon impregnated nylon (silnylon), ideally ripstop 1.1 or 1.3oz per yard.

Now here's the kicker - in a "tactical" colour - eg OD, coyote brown forest green.

Lots of placees have yelow,, jade green, white, grey, purple etc, but I've yet to find a source for a tactical colour.

Please note I do mean silnylon, NOT PU nylon.

Not sure if it will help you or not, but a really odd place to find OD Green ripstop sil-nylon is Wal Mart's dollar rack. Very hit or miss on which stores have it and it is something like 38"-40" wide. Good stuff for stuff sacks and I even made a 6'x9' tarp using it. I have read online other colors pop up such as black and the flashy stuff also.
Hey, guys new around here and the DIY scene. Does anyone know what diytact sells there fabric in? As in is it a yard pure unit? I'm looking at there Cordura and it says $10.93 or so for Foliage Green but I'm not sure if thats per yard or what. Anyone able to help out

Thanks alot

Not sure if it is Goretex or not, but some of the stuff here is offered in a color they call spruce that on their color chart looks enough like my Talon's foliage green a sample might be worthwhile.

You might also try looking for eVent fabric in ACU since there is rain gear being made from the stuff(link) theoretically there should be some of the fabric floating around somewhere as well.
I'm looking for 420D pack cloth in blaze/hunter orange. Does anybody know where I can find some? I've tried Paragear and looked at several other websites but have had no luck.

Also, does anybody have a resource that explains the different grades of Cordura? I haven't found anything and am wondering what the differences are between 400, 420, and 500, etc.
IIRC the denier of a fabric is determined by how much the thread in a specific amount of that fabric weighs in grams. I want to say you either weigh 1000 yards of the thread or one yard of fabric but I can't remember which one of those two it is or if there is actually a totally different way of doing it.

Anybody found any foliage fleece, preferably micro? Any jacket making fabrics out there in foliage green 504 yet (other than the water-resistant/water proof fabrics that JasonB quoted)???

From another thread:
PK Supply located in Kent, WA has a lot of buckles, webbing and fabric choices. No website that I know of, and no retail shop either. They are more geared as a supplier to other companies, but will sell you stuff. They have a small front office that has some samples out, as well as a ton of catalogs showing various buckles, rings, ladders, tri-locks, etc.

Anybody know where I can buy Coyote Tan shock cord? I'm planning to built my own 8 mag chest rig and needed some to secure the mags. I was able to find non-slip material, like Diamondback Tactical's chest rigs, I just haven't been able to find shock cord in coyote.

Sorry, I meant Coyote Brown. Thanks for the link.

Hello guys, I got some 1.5" coyote brown elastic from DYI and I am now looking for a larger quantity. Any idea who sells it by the roll? I am also looking for 1" as well. I checked Bush and TN neither carry the elastic. I know Schwartz has some tan but I really want CB for Multicam.
Any help would be great.

Here lies my Country Born July 4th, 1776 Died November 6, 2012 Killed by lesser men

I can get, or already have, almost everything that everyone is looking for, with some exceptions. I have webbing in light and heavy duty from 3/4" to 2" in od, black, tan, foliage green (for acu), and ranger green too (except 3/4). The same thing goes for 1000d cordura, thread, buckles, even some od mesh. I'll sell cordura by the yard, 69d thread by the 1 lb spool, duraflex hardware by the piece (colors in black, foliage, tan) in either nylon or acytal. If you really need to find something, let me know. I get my stuff from the same people that supply companies like tactical concealment, and tactical tailor. Oh, I also have bungee cor for 1/8" to 3/8" and 1" and 2" elastic in all of the obove colors too.

Thanks for the help dude, but Egg and I will handle the admin shit here in the RYO room; you focus on building gear.

Unless you are needing large quantities of these, have you checked your local milsurp store? Some of them will have small parts stowed away somewhere and/or they will end up with pieces that have damaged nylon components, but near new hardware attached.

If nothing else pops up the #1584 QR buckle might be a way to go, although I didn't see a link on ITW's site for it yet.
Just wondering where I can get the same type of scuba webbing Eagle uses on their duty belts? I need it in 2" and OD if possible. I want to replace the hanger strap on my 6004 rather than hack up the one that it came with. I only need about 3 feet. Any help would be appreciated.
