imageimageimage1st Stud Board post so bare with me...

I found this product buried in this thread: https://www.lightfighter.net/to...92#15796128888414392 and thought I'd take a chance and check it out.

I've been running a First Spear Strandhog daily for the past couple of years (great PC BTW) and have it just about set up the way I want it, it's taken a lot of time tweaking and refining it for my mission but it's just about perfect now. As part of my normal load out I run 2 ESSTAC KYWI M-4 pouches on the front that were mounted with MALICE clips but due to my being seated in a vehicle for lots of my shift the bottom of the MALICE clip would pinch and poke me in the belly (I know more PT could have fixed this too but hey...) while driving. It wasn't bad but I'm not getting any younger and if a few bucks could bring me a bit more comfort during my day I'm down. I also had the same problem on my warbelt that I use for training and some competition shooting with the MALICE clips digging into the top of my leg while seated. I'm a big fan of BFG's helium whisper attachments and wished there was something similar for non BFG products...well there is!

I ordered the WTFix straps (http://www.wtfidea.com) and received them pretty quickly, WHISKEYTWOFOUR (member here) had good comms and sent some extra stuff in the package due to a slight delay due to a order mixup (his zipper pulls are very cool).

The WTFix straps are made out of Hypalon and are laser cut, they looked simple enough and seemed like they would do the job. I was concerned a bit about how basic the lock down / tie down was and wondered how well it would keep the straps secured once they'd been mounted.

Well it's been a few months since I replaced all my MALICE clips with these things and damn if they don't work as advertised. They actually hold my pouches closer to my PC and they are more stable than they were before, bonus! The was they lock down is genius and there is almost no way for them to come loose that I can see. Not that MALICE clips are heavy by any means but these things don't weigh anything at all.

I'm super impressed by this product from both a user standpoint as well as a design one. WTFix straps are awesome and have improved my quality of life. Thank you WTF.

If anyone needs some MALICE clips I've got a stack of em'...

Yea, it looks like he makes a bunch of gear specifically for paintballers but...it's not "air soft" quality gear (at least not these straps, no experience with anything else he makes). But, I just saw on CTOMS websight that they are using his WTFix straps on thier IFACs and they have a reputation of making quality kit.

I wouldn't hold it against him that paintballers are useing his stuff...gotta pay the bills somehow.

I hate MALICE with a fiery burning passion (expensive, had them fail under load, had them shear off) - this has my attention...

I'm late discovering this topic, and it's unfortunately right after I received a dozen MALICE clips in the mail yesterday.  I'm glad I'm not the only one who dislikes them - I'd rather have integral mounting straps like ATS or Eagle's, but I guess a lot of gear manufacturers see it as a cost-saving measure to use separate clips on their pouches.

It's good to see how these new straps work with Esstac KYWI pouches.  While I love how the KYWIs function, I don't like how they designed their pouches to be either three or five rows of PALS high, which leaves the MALICE locking tab hanging down from the bottom.  I find that they catch on things (like my fingers when I'm donning my vest. It looks like these WFTIX straps do a better job of tucking up (or bending) under the pouches.  I'm placing an order!

I bought a few long and short to try out on my work armour carrier. I was a bit skeptical ( ie;  lots of cursing, popped blood vessels, veins exploding etc...) that these would be easy to thread through PALS webbing, especially TACOs but I was pleasantly surprised. Huge difference in bulk and weight. I have two TACOs now using these; a pistol TACO for my SF light and an extended pistol TACO for my baton. So two very different sizes and weights. Time will tell. But I will be using the rest I bought for sure.

I use the Fight Light clips on my belt line to attach the long Taco pouch my collapsible baton rides in as well as the dump pouches on my training belt and my work PC.

The baton was originally secured with the WTFix straps but because it gets torsion on it every rime I sit down in a vehicle (it rides behind my holster) they would come undone (although they never let the pouch fall off the bottom would be loose and I got tired of having to check it every few weeks). During a man down drill at a class a couple years ago I was drug 20 or so yards across a rocky surface and was basically sitting on top of my dump pouch the whole ride and the WTFix straps had become unsecured leaving the dumper hanging loose (but still attached).

In cases where an extreme amount of stress can be put directly on the WTFix straps they can come loose, I have had no issues with the Fight Light straps. The WTFix straps I’ve been using to mount the rest of my pouches on my PC (KYWI tall M4) have never come loose (I’ve done plenty of crawling around on while dragging them across the ground) and allow them to ride nice and flat against the plates, the FL straps definitely don’t allow pouches to ride as tight or flat against the body.

The only thing I don’t like about the FL straps is that they are a bit to long for what I’m using them for and the pouches ride a bit loose (vertically in the molly slots) the belts pictured are smaller than regular molly so that issue is not on the straps but I have the same issue with full size slots (the dump pouch on my work PC) so something to be aware of.

Ultimately the most secure and lowest profile attachment method I’ve found is Velcro onewrap but it’s a pain in the ass to weave through. (I did a wright up on my method a while ago if you’re interested).

Necropost. I just ordered some MALICE Fight Light clips and some WTFix straps. Trying to melt O-SOE mag pouches to my kit. Anybody have a good comparison between the two? Mainly looking for rock solid, tight fit, and minimal hand below the pouch... Can't much much on the interwebs

I actively use both, for different applications.

WTFix straps are good for applications where you don't want plastic digging into your skin over extended periods of time (think Crye JPC's or equivalents' skeletal cummerbunds, where there is no stand-off between your shirt and the clip).

MALICE clips are stronger than WTFix straps, and I use them for things that get pulled on, like the mag pouches on my JPC's front flap.  I tried switching to 100% WTFix straps, and I was pulling my front mag pouches out of place by the end of the week because they get tugged every time I don and doff my carrier.

So, with that context in mind, my internal calculus is something like this: default to MALICE clips, replace with WTFix straps if they cause irritation.  If the pouch in question both causes irritation with MALICE and gets tugged too much to use WTFix, find a new pouch that mounts with Helium Whisper or similar (which is like a WTFix, but sewn into the pouch, and therefore much more tug-resistant).

Hope this is helpful.  HMU if you have any questions.

Great information guys. Thanks. Sounds like I'll probably be moving forward with the MALICE FL straps. I haven't heard of those things ever coming loose and I don't feel like worrying about the WTFix straps. I will give them both a try though.

Notice any issues with the MALICE FLs not being tight? The two items I am trying to mount are a 3 mag shingle on the front of my PC, and a double pistol-sized pouch on my left cummerbund (40mm grenades).

Great idea on the OneWrap. I’ve abandoned the WTFix straps for anything heavy duty; although they have more maneuver room they simply don’t keep my extended pistol taco ( holds my baton ) snug against my carrier. I’m a fan of the HSGI narrow clips.....wish they had thought of them when TACOs first came out.....weaving Malice clips through them takes all the fun out of new gear.

I'd be interesting in trying the OneWrap but I'm beating the shit out of my gear downrange and I can't have my mag pouch attachments failing on me... Still interested in the concept though.

I found Maxpedition Tac Ties and they seemed okay but made in Taiwan and don't seem like they're better than MALICE FL or WTFix.

Leaning towards MALICE at this point, seems like the end-user reputation is great and the new Fight Lights are even better. I don't plan on changing out my front mag pouch so I just want something rock solid and the most durable option.

Truckie, I’ve used both the 1” and 3/4” onewrap...

NomadMS, the FL straps have never been as tight in any application I’ve used them in as the WTFix straps or onewrap (onewrap being the tightest). I haven’t ever had the mag pouches come loose on the front of my PC with the WTFix straps myself but the FL straps are probably more bomb proof.

That onewrap is super tough stuff and if you weave it to where it all locks onto itself in multiple layers it’s not coming loose, with the amount of force I’ve put on it it may be nearly as strong at the FL clips? I’m sure a simple test hanging weights off of it could prove interesting as to how strong it actually is.

I have been using WTFix straps on several Esstac KYWI magazine pouches on my plate carrier (Crye CPC) and my "light" gunfighter belt for a little over a year now (approximately 15 months).  So far, they have been great, and an improvement over MALICE clips for me, as I like the pouches to be as tight to the plate carrier and belt as possible, and not have anything poking or rubbing the nylon.  I have not had any issues with the straps fraying or breaking, but then again other than a few times when I have taken a dive on the ground and crawled or hung up going through a door, I don't place any "abnormal" stresses on them.  I also don't jump out of perfectly good airplanes, so I have no idea how they would hold up to that.

What I will say about them however is that they are a pain in the ass to put on and take off, which in the big scheme of things is a benefit in my opinion.
